Darwin’s Journey is a worker placement euro game by the award winning Simone Luciani and Nestore Mangone. Players recall Charles Darwin’s memories of his adventure through the Galapagos islands, which contributed to the development of his theory of evolution. With an innovative worker progression system, each worker will have to study the disciplines that are a prerequisite to perform several actions in the game, such as: exploration, correspondence, gathering and dispatch of repertoires found in the island to museums in order to contribute to the human knowledge of biology. The game lasts 5 rounds, and with several short and long term objectives every action you take will grant victory points in different ways. The tension and strategic planning that increases over the duration of the match and the fascinating vibe that the game conveys, makes Darwin’s Journey one of the most ambitious projects that Thundergryph have crafted in its story as a board game publisher.

1. I am interested! One of my gaming buddies owns it and I played with him at Gen Con a couple years back. It's super deep for a streamlined, simple card game. I don't know if I could ever justify $250 for something, but I never say never I guess...
2. I enjoyed playing Food Chain Magnate this year! I had a ton more free time with COVID to play longer games online with friends, and this is one that always tells a story as it progresses. Great memories.
3. Clans of Caledonia surprised me the most this year. Terra Mystica is my favorite game ever and hearing a "light" version of it never seems appealing -- but it has it's own awesome mechanics (such as the market buy/sell) and a great theme that I couldn't stay away. Also, what's not to love about more games that are like the ones you love!
4. Terra Mystica, Anachrony, A Feast for Odin, T'zolkin, Food Chain Magnate -- I love my big box games with loads of strategies and plenty of replayability. I added the expansions for a lot of these this year also, which added to the appeal!
