Got one game played. Last night actually: #Kōhaku. Really light but a lot of fun.

I have never played a Knizia game. I haven't seen one where I was driven to want to try it. I would play one if someone brought it out to play, but on my own none of them struck me as a must try.

Cincinnati has two Arcade Bars. A board game bar would be great.

Boozy milkshakes are great. There's even a place by me (not a board game store/cafe just an ice cream parlor) that does cold slab ice cream with booze called The Buzzed Bull Creamery.

My local one doesn't rent space, you can just play there (well, not right now of course). The fact it gets put on a gift card for future use sounds like a great policy though. I know there's plenty of horror stories of dealing with the main TGG company and its CEO, but the local franchises are great.

Oh boy... you've seen my posts before, so strap in and get ready...

Added

That should be everything but I may have forgotten to put an aquisition date on something in my database so it didn't show up when I filtered.

Thinking about Removing

#Transylvania: Curses & Traitors - Backed it on Kickstarter. Have never played it and haven't heard good things about it so I may just pass it on to Goodwill. Some kid who has never played anything but Mouse Trap or Monopoly may have their mind blown by it.

#Zombicide - with the 2nd edition on its way, no need to keep this. Again, likely going to Goodwill to blow some kids mind.

#Ghostbusters: The Board Game - Fell flat. Off to Goodwill.

#Bowling for Zombies!!! - Wanted to support a local company (Twilight Creations is in Cincinnati) but... eeeehhh...

#Battue: Storm of the Horse Lords - I bought it for $5 so my expectations weren't high. Off it goes.

#Traveller Customizable Card Game: Collector's Edition - Sounded neat... but card games are always more miss than hit with me.

#Imperial Settlers - Totally meh. Will likely look to trade this in a math trade.

#The Island of El Dorado - Meh. Probably off to Goodwill.

#Hordes High Command - It's a card game. Blah.

On My Radar

#Origins: First Builders and #Tabannusi: Builders of Ur are about the only non-KS games on my radar. I made a post a while back about my anticipated Kickstarters. (My Top 10 Anticipated Kickstarter Campaigns)

My favorite FLGS is a Gaming Goat franchise. Great folks working there, great prices that rival or beat online stores, and they back lots of Kickstarters. I can either back through them (often at a discount from the pledge, for example I got a Dark Tower all-in for 185 vs the 225 the pledge is listed at) or get it when it shows up and they put copies out for sale.

Personally I think miniatures are ALWAYS better. ;)

That said, the minis have their sight cones as part of the figure. Would be dificult to do that as a meeple or standee. Not saying they couldn't find a way around it, but it definitely makes it easier visually.

I think, kind of similar to the Brass games, they are goign to have similar core mechanics and tweak other things around it. Including theme. You can already see on the New Zealand cover it has sheep instead of cattle.

Not regularly. My 9 yo son sometimes asks to play it. My wife recently expressed some interest in it ("Do yuo think I would like it?") so I'm going to bust it out at some point and have her give it a try.

Some of those games you mentioned were lower than you'd expect aren't surprising because of PubMeeple. While it's certinly a useful tool, it suffers from the problem of that initial face off dividing it into top half and bottom half and nothign moves from that position after that. It depends heavily on what it was matched against. Still, looks like a solid list except for all the card games. XD I kid. Card games aren't my jam. I agree on a lot of your top games though.

Got a game of #Run Fight or Die: Reloaded in with my son then played #Holi: Festival of Colors with my wife and daughters. Next evening my wife, oldest daughter and I played #Cytosis: A Cell Biology Game

The one that springs to mind is Terraforming Mars. Hard to believe it's 5 years old.

I think you'll find most people's top lists skew toward the newer. As new games come out they build off what came before and so end up supplanting them. However, some titles stand the test of time. The Dice Tower recently did their top 100 list and after they did a statistics video and you saw how the more recent years took up more of the chart and older years got smaller and smaller but never fully disappeared. Our collections tend to hold on to older games while getting new. At least if you're not aggressively culling games from it.

I don't hear about that game often, but everything I hear is very positive about it. I forgot all about that one.
