  • Fantastic game. Good duration, good amount of thinking yet doesn't leave you burnt out. Very cool dice mechanism to determine the resources that enter the game. Cool interaction of mechanics where things can be used both in your favour and then used by others to work against you. Like the Supervisor and caravan, the rules for the cube placement into the souks or the buildings you choose to build. The luck adds even more to this in my opinion. The dice can be lucky for you, delivering a very rewarding "Yes!" moment, then they can take that a way with an "Oh Sh*t!" moment. It's never something that leaves you feeling like you lost (or won) the whole game from the dice, maybe just took a wee hit on the way. Who wants to play a game where you can work out exactly how to win before you play anyway......This is very addictive. There are strategies to try and different ways to win, the dice (and how others play) may just cause you to evolve from what you were doing to something new. Each game is different and I think this will add to the longevity of this game as a favourite.Plays well with 2, using the official variant.Very enjoyable with 4, different dynamics completely.I think this game will get a lot of table time with my wife and I and our friends. This would be harder to explain to non-gamers.The WestparkGamers PC version is great to play. Beats me almost every time and still I return for more floggings..... Such is Yspahan.

  • Simple, yet deep game with a decent theme. Very Euro in mechanics, but uses very unique dice mechanic. Nice board and bits, especially the wooden camels! Would like to play this more.
  • Very nice game, played quickly. Honestly didn't think I would like it from the descriptions, but there is quite alot to do during your turn that can have a major impact on the game.
