I played for the first time this weekend. I played five games with my adult daughter (my main gaming partner). I have only played two player so far. I've read that this doesn't play well with more but I wonder about that, it seems like it would be pretty neat with three or four. I'm going to have to try it. This is a very fun abstract game that plays quickly, sometimes very quickly (I lost on the second or third turn once when my opponent drew four fire tokens at once). It's a thinky game that's not too thinky. Kind of Goldilocks thinky. It reminds me a little of Tash Kalar which is another favorite abstract of mine. This one is a little less of a brain burner than TK though. One thing that I don't like about this game is the down time between turns. I almost always feel that I can win the game on every draw if I just play pieces the right way. This can lead to some AP. Since I don't know what pieces I will have, I really can't plan out my next turn. I use the time to see how my opponent might trap me but it is a bit of a negative. The components are very nice, well-made and attractive. The rules are pretty clear and easy to understand. I played this for the first time with more than two players. It's interesting and fun but I think I prefer two player.
