  • I haven't played this enough to form an official opinion on it, but it is lacklustre enough that I haven't been that keen to revisit it. I like that the miniatures are preassembled and painted, but there isn't much about the game that is customisable. Building an army list feels very restrictive, there isn't much choice in how you can customise your ship. It's like ffg didn't know how to make a properly balanced game, so instead they just kneecapped everyone.
  • Second Edition was a mess at launch and continues to be a mess. FFG is trying to correct its rush to second edition with hyperspace (massive bans to the vast majority of content in the conversion kits for scum, rebels, and empire); however, this is causing a major split in the community which will most likely kill the player base entirely. FFG made a serious mistake by requiring a digital app in order to play the game. The app developed by FFG is garbage. 3rd party community developers have created apps on their spare time far superior to the official app. This is a problem because the official app is useless to players. It also means that FFG will not be able to gather vital stats useful for balancing the game. FFG made bold claims about using the digital app to balance the game. However, they are now only committing to balance patches twice a year. This is worse than 1.0 and shows that FFG has itself lost faith in the game and understands sales are far below expetations. Their last hope to keep the game alive is to milk the existing player base for everything they are worth. This is why FFG is banning the majority of content found in the conversion kits in their official tournaments. FFG needs to sell their new factions or go bust. The player base is not standing for it and most are just not buying except for the very fanatical players. We have seen x-wing go from the #1 miniatures game icv2 to not even making top 5 within 2018. I predict that x-wing will fail in 2019. Epic will never see a re-release and FFG will just drip feed content as few will continue to buy. Its very sad as x-wing is a good game at its core. FFG mismanaged x-wing opting for the quick cash option which lead to massive power creep in 1.0. This bleed most of the players. FFG had 1 and only 1 shot at correcting their misteps with 1.0 and failed. They are once agian selling power creep and burning the existing players to do it.
