I enjoy the euro-inspired mechanical streamlining that drives the gameplay while keeping some of the wargame historicity. The high levels of abstraction in the mechanics tend to eliminate a lot of realism and some things just don't make much sense (seems like both sides would need to play a Truce for the game to end, n'est pas?). This is definitely not Wilderness War in terms of history and depth, but it's significantly more *fun* than WW, and in the end I'm in this for the gameplay, not the history lessons. I think the Birth of America series overall is a homerun of light wargaming.
