Really enjoyed this game. A relatively simple worker placement game with fun choices and easy actions. I would highly recommend this over Reykholt if you're looking for a farming style worker placement game.

GAMEPLAY Harvest is a worker placement farming game set in… a mythical world of evil beings? Each player has two workers that they use to visit the main board where they can buy materials or seeds, add to their plots or buy special buildings, or tend to their plots. In addition, there are card areas that players can visit in order to more efficiently do a mix-and-match of the main board actions. Turn order is determined by a deck of 20-something cards: at the beginning of a player’s turn, three of these cards are up for grabs with low cards having initiative but worse benefits, while high cards mean you’re more likely to go later but they offer better benefits. Players score VP by collecting stars from crops, buildings, and plots. THOUGHTS Harvest is cute to look at, has a low rules overhead, and plays very quickly – maybe too quickly. The game is over and done long before thoughts of building any kind of engine is possible and that is clearly by design. While I wasn’t wowed by the game, I have to give it credit for having a lot going on in such a small box. Variability is a strong point: starting characters, action cards (or whatever they are called), and buildings will all be different for many games before you start to recycle. I feel like it’s a game that deserves another play or two before I write it off as it could make for a filler game that has some interesting decisions in it. PROS -Good amount of variability. -Relatively simple and quick – good points for a fun filler. -Initiative system is interesting and provides another good wrinkle in the decision department. NEUTRAL -Due to the quickness of the game, there is no real chance to flex your engine but that is probably not the point of the game. CONS -I wish your starting plot was more than just a thin card and that the crop tokens were a bit bigger.

I really fun—and fast—worker placement game with some interesting twists. We love that it forces you to pick a strategy and run with it because there isn’t enough turns to do anything else. The illustration and production quality is fantastic. Especially the pooples.
