  • Great space oprea game. Number 1 space game for me. What makes this game great is once you know the rules its really "easy" to teach the game as you place one sector at a time. Everything makes so much thematic sense its easy to remember the rules even though theres a lot of moving parts. GREAT game! Give new players extra cash at start up.
  • Different, sandboxy.
  • Including all expasionsDifferent roles, ships, missions, actually feel different. The missions have a great variety. Lots of player choice over how to build your ship and what to do in the game. (Much more cusomizable ships that merchants and marauders seemed to have). Configurable game length. Lots of missions that interact with other players (not just killing them).Dice are random, but embers adds plenty of ways to mitigate and everyone rolls so many times that odds will even out. Seems like the game I was hoping Firefly was.Would be rated higher but the game can be very long due to player turns being so long

They are working on printing #Xia: Legends of a Drift System, so you might be able to get it yet.

Storytelling through gameplay. #Xia: Legends of a Drift System has been super fun for that.

Space. I like space.

Critters.  I don't really have any games with critters, but I'm always interested in them.  Watership Down always holds a good place in my imagination, so I still have hopes of some day playing Aftermath.

Dinosaurs. I used to have pencil bags full of little dino mini toys when I was a kid, which naturally fed into my draw to #Perseverance: Castaway Chronicles... I did try it on tabletopia just to address my fears that I only wanted to back it because of dinos, and I really enjoy Anachrony, but I'd be lying to myself if I didn't admit that the dinos won't make me feel like a kid again.

Anything uncommon.  Themes that are different than a lot of games will usually draw me in even if I'm not that interested in the theme initially.

Had no idea you were thinking about #Xia: Legends of a Drift System. What attracted you to the game? (I still know nothing about it)

And I agree, you have so many great games but storage needs improvement! Same issue for me hahaha, although, I don't have that many games to store yet. I might just put up a shelf in our garage/my wife's studio

I have lots of grail games. Xia: Legends of a Drift System is probably the one that would be the hardest to acquire. Otherwise there are plenty of games that are available but are more expensive than I can normally spend on games. Mage Knight: Ultimate Edition isn’t too bad and I might convince my Dad to get it for me for Christmas. Gaia ProjectA Feast For Odin, and Gloomhaven are expensive but definitely attainable. I’m still kicking myself for not picking up Gaia Project last Black Friday.

I haven't played it yet (have plans to, though), but I've heard Xia: Legends of a Drift System described as a sandbox game. It's got a cool space/sci-fi theme as well, which is very appealing to me. It seems like sort of a bigger version of the Star Wars: Outer Rim game that you reviewed recently!
