Your team of explorers has made it into the heart of the ancient temple, but can you work together to banish the curse and get out! You have just ten minutes to collect gems and find the exit. Don't leave anyone behind! Either your whole group makes it out... or no one does!

Escape is a cooperative game in which players must escape from a temple before the temple collapses, thereby causing everyone to lose. Escape is played in real-time, with all players rolling dice and taking actions simultaneously. The real-time aspect is enhanced by a soundtrack to be played during the game.

  • Here's another game that exemplifies what i don't like about real time board games. I feel like these types of games would be better played with a moderator who can keep people honest as, within the chaos of it all, it's easy to just occasionally cheat your way through a bad situation out of frustration. As a host you want everyone to have a good time and if you have that one player who wants to play these games a little more thoughtfully it will just break the entire game and that's frustrating.
  • Fun but stressful game for all ages. Enough depth to last several plays in a row. Not my favorite game ever but definitely a fun experience.
  • Ready. Steady. Go. Go. Go.
  • So fun! Quick to setup, quick to play, quick to put away. The soundtrack is really immersive and stressful!Edit: Starting to feel a little samey. Hopefully the expansions will help a little.

I've tried a decent number of co-ops. My favorite is of course #Spirit Island but hers is probably something like #Chronicles of Crime or maybe #Escape: The Curse of the Temple.

As far as legacy games go in general, I haven't tried one unless you count #Gloomhaven or #Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion. Still can't bring myself to put the stickers on my copy lol. That style of game never really appealed to me for that reason, though I guess lack of shelf space might be a factor in giving one a shot knowing that I don't have to keep it afterwards lol.

Like I said I wouldn't say either of us hate #Pandemic - I just would rather play something else and to be honest I don't know if her one play gave it justice for her. It was the end of a long night of gaming.

Definitely something with a lot of chance and yelling.
Reminds me of when I played #Escape: The Curse of the Temple. Constantly yelling and rolling dice!

Good to know! Someone else just recommended this for us too so now I'm definitely going to go check it out further. Thanks!

Yeah we're waiting over here for things to return to semi normal so we can try to have more people over for gaming. We have some friends and family who would be willing to play but these times are hard for sure.

My favorite co-op at 2 would probably be #Spirit Island honestly. I will say I play it more solo than anything because Sarah doesn't get the same enjoyment out of it as I do haha. Making decisions on your own is a big draw as I don't typically like the quarterbacking issues that many co-ops run into. As far as other co-ops we can actually get to the table more often, #Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion. I would throw in #The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine but it's not so great at 2. I think the only other co-ops we really have are #Chronicles of Crime or #Escape: The Curse of the Temple. Sarah probably prefers either of those over any of the others. We really need to get some more in our lives lol.

So for Christmas this year,  a must is #Monikers, especially with the in-laws. We usually play a lot of games particularly with them. So many new games (to us) that we have to teach them as well. A few of those are:

I know Sarah was at least theoretically interested in teaching her siblings #Wingspan. Not sure if the holidays would be a great time for that. And I picked up my father in-law #Marvel United so we'll have to play that.

Really light week for me this week.

#Escape: The Curse of the Temple - Picked this up in a trade. It was my first time playing it and the second for my fiancée. We got in 2 games - once with just the basic tiles and rules and a second game immediately after throwing in the treasure and curse tiles. The first game seemed so simple, whereas the second provided a much more difficult challenge. Really have to play this with more to get the full experience I think.

#Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion - Got through scenario 3 before the future wife got a little sleepy lol. It's still not posing much of a challenge as it continues to ramp up and add in more rules. I'm excited to get to the battle goals and start really changing some things with my character.

That's literally it for me this week..a sad state of gaming affairs lol.
