The rules are atrocious for this game, and the game play has serious issues. The worst part about it, is that Hasbro designed it quickly to cash in on the Lord of the Rings movie when the third movie wasn't even out in theatres yet. So they ended the board 2/3rds of the way, with the promise of an "Expansion" Instead we got the trilogy edition of Risk and no expansion (in Canada that is).Basically all those eager LOTR fans that bought this game were SOL and told "just buy another copy if you don't like it." well stuff it up your @$$ hasbro. This doesn't even go in my games cabinet. It's in a box, having only been played once.Edit: I have since sold this to someone.. Good Riddence
--08Aug2004-- Despite my irrational love of things JRRT, I can't abide this. Just burned out on _Risk_ in all its forms, I think.--July2005-- Excellent! Sold it to Tim for $0.01; hope he enjoys it. I'd say "Better than me", but that's a given.
Dice hate me.
I haven't played Risk in years and was extremely pleased with this. I'm looking forward to the expansion but I have to say that the compactness of the game was actually quite refreshing. We're playing again this week so I'll see how it plays a second time around.
