Barely a Champion...

I picked up the Marvel Champions Card Game last week and finally finished a game I started barely eeking out a win vs Rhino.  This was a much more challenging game than I imagined it would be and seems to be better balanced than I expected it to be as well.

Confession Corner: My first two playthroughs I failed.  The first time I thought I'd won after getting Rhino's hit points to 0 and forgot to reset and place Rhino II into play.  I was playing with the intro decks and missed it.  The second playthrough I cheated on the villains behalf and thought I lost after Rhino completed his 7 scheme.  I forgot the account for having two heroes and Rhino needing 14 scheme.

My third game I think I managed to do all the mechanics appropriately.  I still have a few questions regarding the timing of certain actions but look forward to doing some deck tweaking and fighting a new villain.

My interest in this game has been growing a lot recently. Feels like it'll be a great co-op experience with my wife who also likes the MCU. Have you had a chance to play this with your wife yet?

As a solo game, is this one you'd bust out a lot, or do you think this one will lose its luster after a while?

I haven't yet.  It's possible we might get a play in on one of our family game nights.  I'll post something if/when that happens.

I will wait for it with bated breath.

Hard to say for sure.  I only played the one villain and I played him on normal.  There is a hard setting for that villain.  There are two other villains with normal and hard settings as well and 3 other heroes.  I want to tweak the decks, try some different strategies out.  Its a living card game as well and I am sure my kids might be interested on Black Widow and Dr. Strange.

Cool. I'm interested, but I need more reviews from regular people first haha  Still, I think I'd like it. I'm just not sure it would last.

I think what I heard you say there is...I'm not a regular person...lol  :P

I assume you were playing solo. Is that the case?

Yep, totally solo.  I almost always solo a game before trying to teach it.  Rules goofs on the first go tend to lead toward my family not playing for a long time.

It does sound like I would enjoy it, but I don't think I'll ever get into it because I really don't want to start spending money on lcg material.

This one sounds really good. I strongly considered it for a giveaway prize but it was slightly outside the budget.

Is it that pricey? Wow!

I think the price is dropping a little at least judging from Amazon. We have a local game store where I went ahead and ponied up $60+ because they have a buy 10 get one free deal that only lasts a year. I want to take advantage of it before October.  I wish the storage was better but the game plays well and is challenging.
