Still such a great game.

Family was out of town for much of the week. We played a game of #Call to Adventure before they left--always enjoy narrating our stories to each other at the end!
Took advantage of the time home alone to try some solo play. I've been curious about #Near and Far for a while, and I found a trial version online with Tabletopia which enabled me to play Arcade Mode vs. myself to get a feel of the game mechanics. Really enjoyed myself and bought a copy from a seller at BGG's Geek Market. Looking forward to diving into the Character and Story modes!
Also broke out #Tapestry and tried out its solo mode for the first time. It was nice being able to take my time strategizing without worrying about holding up other players. I found the Automa and Shadow Empire pretty smooth to manage, once I got the hang of it...
Now with family having arrived back home, I just played a fun quick game of #Santorini with my son.
A nice week overall!

I played #The Isle of Cats for the first time this week! I also got to play #Tang Garden which is beautiful and fun to play once you get going in the game.

Was able to snag a #Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion copy earlier this week from Target, sort of on a whim. I played through the first and second scenarios last night with my SO. I also own regular Gloomhaven, but due to the overhead and setup time, we never got more than about 5 scenarios into that.
Jaws of the Lion does a phenomenal job with easing players into the game and is absolutely my recommendation for players that are new to Gloomhaven and want to see if they like it. Having the first five scenarios play out like a tutorial is brilliant design in my opinion. My SO and I are really looking forward to playing a few more scenarios of this later this week before I reteach it to an entirely new group of heavier gamers at the end of the month.
Side note: I also ADORE the fact that most of the organization of this game is included with the game. There is absolutely room to pimp your own copy but for the more casual gamer, the base box alone is perfect. Well done Cephalofair!

I'm looking into Jaws of the Lion, since I got a $50 Amazon gift card from work for my birthday. It certainly looks and sounds great!

Keep in mind it's a Target exclusive for a while.

You can pre-order on Amazon! It releases August 4 through them!
Yeah, I saw that, which is why I'm still dragging my feet. It's on pre-order on Amazon for another few weeks. If, by the end of next week, I haven't ordered anything else with it, I'll probably get that.

Played #Dice Forge and had a blast! Man, first time through was rough getting through the rules and making sure we understood the set-up but after that. A whole ton of fun!

#Skulk Hollow - Introduced this to my wife! I played as the Foxen Heroes and she played as Grak, one of the guardian monsters.
#Pax Pamir (Second Edition) - Played solo. Feels good to have finally gotten to this one. What a fascinating game with so much sensitivity to the tactile experience. Another one that I realllly should learn and try out is #Agricola (Revised Edition).
And then there are loads of other games at our office that I should try, namely #Pipeline, #Paladins of the West Kingdom, and #Black Angel.

Got in another game of #1775: Rebellion last night. Lost on the last turn 5 - 4 (an American Victory). I always randomly draw to start this game and I always end up being the British Side.

I got one game of #Carcassonne in on Sunday.
We had two games hit the table. #Aeon's End: War Eternal and #Aeon's End: Legacy lol. Legacy was just me and the wife playing through the 3rd scenario and War Eternal was my wife trying to convince some of her friends that they would like it lol. All in all I cannot complain!

Unexpectedly huge gaming week:
WOW you had a lot of games and time for games lol.
Haha, the final five on that list all happened over the weekend in 2 separate birthday get-togethers for 2 of my best friends (who happen to be brothers). Not a usual thing.
How do you feel? Are you in a board game haze today?
Eh...I'm good to play a game, but I kinda don't want to teach anything for a little while, haha. I'm an introvert, so I'm more peopled-out than gamed-out.
I can totally respect that, over Christmas I had a streak like this and I actually was peopled and gamed out for sure.
Yeah. My threshold for games I enjoy with people I like is pretty high, but if you take away one of those, I could see myself getting gamed-out pretty quickly. I get peopled-out in a busy weekend no matter what, so that just is what it is, haha.
I am with you. I think I get peopled out before I get gamed out as well!
Yeah it was a lot of fun!

Just a single game of #Azul for my partner and I: many questions of 'are you going to be mean?' on both sides!
Got in a game of #Rurik: Dawn of Kiev last night. Love this game every time I play it. I need to play it more often (and my wife suggested we play it again soon, so that's a good sign!). The game ended with both me and my wife having 17 points, but she beat me in the first tie breaker of ruling the most territories.
After Rurik, we played #Bohnanza with the in-laws. After playing Rurik, for some reason I simply could not grasp the rules of this one haha I don't know why, but everyone poked fun at me because I can learn (and remember) complex game rules, but not something easier like Bohnanza haha
Rurik is a game I really want to try. I think I would love it.
It's a super solid game. I will always recommend it.
