I enjoy it but wish I could get more plays. My wife doesn't enjoy the theme as much so it keeps her from really digging in. It is far from perfect. but I do like it! And today it is on sale at Miniature Market for $10 as their daily deal.

I actually bought it shortly after this post since it was 18 on amazon. However I have since returned it, only because I didn’t think I would get to play it as often as I wanted to plus I wanted to get a different game I knew I’d play

Which game did you end up getting?
I basically used the return to help purchase welcome to and Race for the galaxy
Yes I saw it. Decided to pass.
Probably wise for your situation since there is no official solo
I did see a fan made variant for solo play somewhere.
Yeah there is a fan made one but it looked somewhat finicky. Probably not worth buying just for that.
That is exactly why I didn't buy it.
Unless they made it an official one like some games have done with their fan made solos (ex. Cry Havoc).
I think you undersell how good some fan made modes can be. But, I don't have any good examples of the top of my head.
And that’s why I I said made it official, as in the fan made one becoming official. When this happens, you know it should be decent because the publisher recognizes its quality
Sure, but they are usually played by the community before recognized by the publisher.
Right, which kind of goes back to my original point, where I wouldn’t buy a game solely for its solo variant if it hadn’t been tested by others and accepted by a publisher.
Fan made ones can be good, don’t get me wrong. But I would say the bast majority are probably filled with a lot of holes unless rigorously tested and made by someone with design experience. That’s why if I’m looking for a fan made variant, I like when it’s made official or is an unofficial add on from the original designer
That is true. But they're are many people out there who have designed many good solo variants for the community and some of them are adopted by the publishers while others are not. I think of people like Ricky Royal who had tears of design experience, especially in the solo community. I don't think his designs are good.
I’ve never heard of him!
Now you have. Check him out. He is Box of Delights on YouTube.
