Wishlists: focus or distraction....?

I'm curious how wishlists work for you. Does it help focus new game purchases, or does it distract from the games you have?

I think if I maintained and curated a wishlist it would probably distract me more than focus me, but generally my 'wishlist' is more just games that excite me and I like to discuss with people who like games.

Can it be both? I think it's both. I'm always craving the next game and I definitely lose sight of the games I already have. But having a list helps to learn and focus on what games you will enjoy the most.
