Wishlist games

Moderator Level 1

I'm curious about what sorts of games y'all are wishing for these days. I'll share the 5 or so games highest on my wishlist right now, and y'all can throw the games you are wishing for into the comments.

  • #Gandhi: The Decolonization of British India, 1917 – 1947. I probably have no business wishing for another game this long right now. But, I really want to try the bot system that this game introduces and I find the theme fascinating and the art bewitching.
  • #Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile This is a game that doesn't look like it will play well solo. But, I will probably be moving back to the states in the next 6-8 months, and maybe people will play with me there.... But, if I am truthful, my friends in the states tend to be more euro gamers, and this sort of game probably won't really apeal to them. But, I want it anyway.
  • #Space Empires 4X This is a nice ugly looking game. But, I think it looks like a great solo experience, and I really think I would like it.
  • #Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy This is a game I think I could get my friends in the states to play. I think that the ship costomization in this game just intrigues me. Also, the art and components of this edition are out of this world beautiful. Of course, being out of this world beautiful, is fitting for the theme of the game.
  • #Lisboa I have yet to play any game by Vital Lacerda. This is, unquestionably, the Lacerda I have the most interest in. I love the idea of the decision tree. I love the historical period it portrays. I love the art.

So, I have two other games I will mention briefly. For my last slot, I really wrestled with whether to put in #Too Many Bones or #Lisboa.... As you can see I finally chose Lisboa. Lastly, I am really wishing for #John Company (Second Edition). But, I have backed it, so I will count it as "acquired."

So, tell me what you have been thinking about, what have you been wishing for.

#Atlantis Rising (second edition) - I love cooperative games, and I've heard great things about this one.  I understand it has something to do with push-your-luck, which is another mechanism I love.  Plus this second edition has excellent components, so it's hard to resist.  It certainly sounds like something I need to try.

#Chronicles of Crime - Cooperative again, but this time with a murder mystery deduction element?  Yes, please!  Can't wait to get my hands on this one.

#The Taverns of Tiefenthal - I can't resist the opportunity to play the follow-up to Warsch's #The Quacks of Quedlinburg.  I've heard that this is just as good or even better for some people, which means I have to give it a try.

#Sub Terra - I'm intrigued by the theme of this one, and it's another unique cooperative game that has piqued my interest. Maybe it's not going to be a favorite for me, but I'd like to try it and see.

#Cubitos - Everything about this game looks like fun, honestly I need nothing more than that to put it high on my wishlist.

#Atlantis Rising (second edition) is a truly gorgeous game. I don't prefer cooperative games, but, I still eye this one pretty frequently.

Now that there is a an expansion coming (#Lost Ruins of Arnak: Expedition Leaders), I really want to get my hands on the base game #Lost Ruins of Arnak. Especially if it wins the Spiel in a few days, which it probably will, which is going to make the price go up!

Only played my physical copy once solo but my few plays on BGA give it a lot of promise to be a hit in our house!

Moderator Level 16 months ago

It has pretty different gameplay, but after 2 plays, my wife and I both agreed that we get a feeling playing it similar to when we play #Everdell, which is high praise in our house.

Premium User6 months ago

That is high praise from you two! Which reminds me I backed the Everdell big box and now I just want it to hurry up lol

Moderator Level 16 months ago

Haha, same honestly

Moderator Level 16 months ago

I bought it in early May as a ding and dent at my FLGS, but have yet to have a chance to play it. 😕

You think the Spiel would drive up the price....?

Premium User6 months ago

Unsolicited response from me lol. I wouldn't think the price as much as the supply.

Moderator Level 16 months ago

That was my feeling as well. This might drive up the prices on amazon etc... But, I thought if it does indeed get the spiel, it might, in the long run, drive the price down slightly. After all, if there are more sales, than they can print in bigger quantities, and the economies of scale could help them out a bit.

I just received the base game as a birthday gift, and I love it so far! We've played 2 games, but I'm already looking forward to eventually getting the expansion as well.

Here is what I'm looking forward to grabbing:

#Xia: Legends of a Drift System

#Voidfall

#Pendragon: The Fall of Roman Britain

#Hallertau

#CloudAge

Thats pretty much it for now.

I'd forgotten about the recently announced #Voidfall. I'll definitely want to see more details about the game before I officially add it to my wishlist, but I am following that one.

I already know enough. I'm getting it. First ever Kickstarter project too. Plus David Turzci has talked to me personally about the game. How cool is that?!

Haha, awesome!

For a second I thought you said #Cloud City which was a huge disapointment for me. Good call on #CloudAge, faith restored!

Moderator Level 16 months ago

Xia is another one I've wanted for quite a while....

Pendragon is really really good.

#Coffee Traders is top on my list as I don't think many in my gaming circle would acquire it.  Looks excellent and seems to have a slightly unique gameplay.

#Great Western Trail I got to play a couple times recently and I love this game!  I think this one would make my top ten.

#Kanban EV looks complex and meaty and I have found that I really like the Lacerda games.

#On Mars (see above)

#Orleans: Invasion would allow for me to solo the base game and I'd love to add a fifth player to the table.

I gotta say right now I've got nothing on my list.  I do want to figure out a good Deck Builder to add to my collection but I'm so happy with what I've got going on now and still have a lot of my own games I need to play more.

I'd probably put the games in my collection that haven't been played in a while on my "wishlist" at the moment... of those my top two are #Scythe with the #Scythe: The Rise of Fenris expansion, #Dune and #Clans of Caledonia.

#Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile has been a huge hit.  My group almost never plays the same game succesively and it's looking like it's definitely going to get a 3rd play in a row in.

Like you #John Company (Second Edition) is on my "wishlist" as it was my one full purchase for the year... but it's more of a

list...

Did you spring for the metal coins in JC?

Supporter6 months ago

I did end up doing that because I believe they will be different increments so I'll be able to use them for Scythe and Clans of Caledonia as well.

I also added the Pax Pamir Metal Coins because we've been using the metal coins from #Raiders of the North Sea and have loved it.  Although I doubt I'll need all 36 at any point technically Raiders only has 32.  Plus they were only $15 to add so I think it was well worth it.

I have high hopes for the coins in JC2E.

Another great question in the forums!

First, I'm still trying to get more game plays in on the 11 games and 5 expansions I've received since (and including) Christmas-most courtesy of a BGA gift card win.  I currently have the expansion and new maps for #Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale, #Downforce: Wild Ride Expansion (again courtesy of a BGA gift card win), #Marvel Champions: The Card Game - Scarlet Witch Hero Pack , and #Whistle Mountain on hold (combined, this is double the number of games I've ever added to my collection in a year).

So, not counting those or my #Everdell: Newleaf, Mistwood, and The Complete Collection Kickstarter backing, the following games are on my watch list:

  • #Hadrian's Wall definately not for the family, but I'm so interested in this after playing #Paladins of the West Kingdom
  • #The Quest for El Dorado thinking the family will like this one
  • #The Reckoners based on a series by one of my favorite authors, it just looks cool and I don't have any game like it. It'd be the most expensive game in my collection, so it's a long-shot that it'll end up in it.
  • #Rajas of the Ganges I've been looking at some diced-based games and this looks interesting to me from the reviews I've seen.
  • #Fleet: The Dice Game I've seen this mentioned a lot lately and it looks like something I'd enjoy.

#The Quest for El Dorado is a game that I have thougth about off and on for several years. I suppose I should just get it.

I (relatively) recently went on pubmeeple to "rank" my wishlist. Basically trying to prioritize which I'm most excited about/would go out of my way to buy/trade for if given an opportunity. I'd say my top 5 right now are:

#Draftosaurus - this actually made the wedding registry so fingers crossed one of my friends gets it for me lol.

#Mage Knight: Ultimate Edition - I threw this on my wishlist awhile back based solely on what a few people on here had said about it. Watched a few playthroughs since then and I could definitely see myself getting into it.

#Stationfall - this was on KS not too long ago and I wavered for awhile on if I should back or wait for retail. Ultimately decided to wait on it because I didn't see any real benefit to backing. No idea when I'd have an opportunity to play it but it sure sounds like a fun time.

#Cubitos - looks like a fun time and despite Sarah saying she wouldn't like it, I'm fairly sure she would lol.

#Too Many Bones - for no reason in particular, I think I'd enjoy playing this.

Of course at the current moment I'm on the Board Game Barrage podcast discord and joined a contest to try and not acquire games from July 1st until the end of the year so none of these would make my collection anytime soon.

oooh good luck with that.  Let me know when you start to get the sweats lol

I actually participated last year too and won. Granted it only lasted about a month and this year the competition seems a little less willing to spend money. I figure since there's nothing I really want and I officially have unplayed games, I'll be safe for a bit.
