It's easy to see why people enjoy this board game. The Crew is a lovely game to have on the shelf because it's so easy to teach and get friends playing while......

@trentellingsen how do you feel now that #The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine has taken the prize?

Supporter20 days ago

It certainly seems like a worthy game. I do have a soft spot for games that can be learned and played with friends very quickly that still have interesting gameplay and this fits all those check boxes. It's not something I'm clamering to play at the moment but I'm sure if I get the right group it could be a blast to try and worth through all the scenarios with some friends.

Makes sense, will you own/ get any of the nominations out regularly do you think?

I've been playing #Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale a fair bit. It's my wife's new favorite so we pull it out about every other week at this point.

I definitely want to check this one out, as well as the other two nominees.

Whelp, looks like it won!

The hot take back fired lol.

Man this game still looks so good though!

#Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale 4 LYFE!

Seriously though. I see the draw to The Crew, but as it's a game that can be somewhat trial and error until things click I believe that will hold it back.

I still think that #The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine will get the Kennerspiel. I could be wrong, but that's my gut feeling.

Why do you feel like it'll win over #Cartographers: A Roll Player Tale?

Firstly, I want too say loudly and clearly that I haven't played any of the nominees, so my speculations are pretty much spit balling.

I think that the crew has slightly better critical reviews from more reviewers. Everything I know about the Cartographers is good, and I think I would enjoy it more than than the Crew, but, I think that the crew is innovates on the familiar a little bit more creatively than Cartographers.

One last point, I think that the crew is uniquely poised to draw older non gamers, the kind of people who grew up playing trick taking games. Trick taking is a mechanism that is grossly underutilized and hasn't been innovated on much. I think the Crew is starting a new breed of games, and it will be rewarded with the Kennerspiel.

Agreed!

Hey, I was right..... That feels good because I couldn't have been more wrong about the Spiel winner.

One step forward, one step back lol. Who was your Spiel vote?

Supporter21 days ago

I was confident that it was going to be My City.

I was slightly unenthused by any of the nominees, but the winner seems the least interesting to me...

I agree on both counts. But, I did like the idea of a genuinely family weight legacy game that plays fast. I think it is lighter than I would want. And, it might not be a great game. But I was genuinely excited by the promise that it held for the future of family weight games.

I did not realize My City has legacy elements, I think that is pretty neat!

Supporter20 days ago

Yep it is a compatitive legacy city building game.

That is cool, I will need to look more into it. Probably not my kind of game but I like to know about it!

Supporter20 days ago

Let us know if you decide you need to jump on it.

I have a long list of wants so it would be low on the list lol.

Supporter20 days ago

I hear that......

You are also in a weird spot though! You have a lot of games that you have acquired just waiting for you! So when you do get those it will be a big fulfillment of anticipation!

Supporter19 days ago

I'm looking forward to it.

I bet!

We just played the Crew for the first time last week. It was a lot more challenging than I expected. The brain power required is pretty significant. It isn't an easy and relaxing play like a lot of Spiel games.

Interesting, you were one of the first people to say they have not loved the game! I have not played it but it is on my radar for sure! My family loves trick taking games but I am not sure how much more they would want to think....

I probably would assume Cartographers would win at this point, but I feel like a lot of people are discounting the Kings Dilemma. It got a ton of hype from SUSD!
