Out of Print or Rare Board Game Giveaways (11/16)

Supporter

Throughout this month,  and I are putting all of our efforts toward combining Board Game Prices with Board Game Atlas! For those who aren't aware, we launched BGA in 2019 and acquired BGP in late 2019. We've mostly left BGP alone as is, except for patching up bugs every now and then. Now we're finally making the move to combine the two and provide a better community and more reliable data for both websites.

To promote this "launching event," we'll be giving away more than $5000 worth of board games until the end of 2020 and here's Round 2: Out of Print/Rare Games.

  • Prize: 1 Copy of #Inis
  • Number of winners: 3
  • Starts: Monday, November 16
  • Ends: Sunday, November 22
You will get +1 entry every time you complete any of these actions to contribute to our community:
  • Make a post on our forum or write an article
  • Comment or reply on posts/articles
  • Add/edit info on a game page
Each contribution is 1 additional entry and there's no limit to your contributions.

As you can see, Round 2 of giveaways will each last a week and I will reveal the prize one by one.

With that said, I have several questions!
  • What's your interest level in Inis?
  • Two weeks ago, I asked which games you'd buy with $200 if you were to start the hobby all over again. Let's focus on the now this time. What would you buy? 1-2 expensive games in the hundred dollar range? or 3-6 smaller games?
  • Of all of the out of print/rare games that were mentioned in the previous thread, were there ones that you clearly know will be outside of your typical preferences? Which ones are they and why? Bonus question: What would you do if you won that game?

I will announce the results of the $200 gift cards giveaway in a few hours. Oh boy... :D

  • I would say I am interested in #Inis mostly because it is so dang pretty! I also like the unique win mechanics!
  • I would probably go with 1-2 bigger purchases. Definitely #Nemo's War (Second Edition) and the second is up for grabs, potentially #Age of Steam: Deluxe Edition. I have limited shelf space so adding multiple smaller games is not suuuuper appealing at the moment!
  • Many of the games mentioned do not interest me, BUT I would be thankful to win them but I would try and trade them or sell them to someone who wants them more than I!

Inis is the most beautiful game I own bar none.

I would also love to get my hands on #Age of Steam: Deluxe Edition. I've been watching too much Heavy Cardboard recently to not.

I'm really looking forward to trying out Inis with my wife. I still need to brush up on the rules for #Pax Pamir (Second Edition) since she wanted to give it a try though.

I'm just waiting for that first impressions post from you on #Nemo's War (Second Edition) some day. Perhaps will share soon and make me go for it before everything else haha. But yeah, with everyone's influence, I now have Too Many Bones, Nemo's War, and #Star Wars: Rebellion all fighting for that #1 spot on my wishlist. Wish CTG had some sort of holiday sales xD.......

I have thought about buying #Nemo's War (Second Edition), but not that many videos on playing with mutiple people has stopped.

More pressure for that review, eh Phil?

Supporter9 days ago

Yes, sir, we are all awaiting your review.

YES! :D

I did not think you could play #Inis at 2-players! Hopefully it goes well! I am very curious how Pax goes!

I will get Nemo's War eventually lol...I honestly think TMB has more legs though. Lots of different Gearlocs, lots of different Tyrannts and Baddies and works well at solo and multiplayer. Nemo's War I have heard only works well at solo!

It's here! The box looks awesome. Now.... I can't believe that Zatu shipped these four copies from the U.K. without a single packaging material inside. Fortunately, it seems like three of the boxes only has minor "damage" with small rips on the shrink wrap here and there. For our office copy, looks like the box cover had finishing issues where I can see slight "bubbles" and there are even a few hard bumps where it seems like the finish was placed over some kind of debris. I also opened up our office copy and saw that it has one of those cardboard "inserts" inside, which has a rip on one of the edges. Again, not a big deal, but just not the best unboxing experience! Hope you future winners won't mind too much, and I sure hope our office copy is in the worst shape)

As a reminder, the giveaway for Inis will end on Sunday! Good luck everyone :)

WHOA IT'S SO PRETTY. A lot of people seem to prefer the original cover art, but I'm partial to this newer cover...

And as for the minor damage, never look a gift horse in the mouth :)

OMG I didn't know the sides were so awesome too!

New User4 days ago

Wow. I agree.

Yes, I love the side art!!!

All of the art in this game is awesome. The card art is kind of crazy looking!

Would just like to add that they got Jim FitzPatrick to do the artwork. He's famous for this style of art

Oh yeah? What else is he known for? Other games or non-game related art?

The iconic red, black and white portrait of Che Guevara. You can read up more about him at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Fitzpatrick_(artist) and visit his website if you want https://jimfitzpatrick.com/ I'm a fan of his artwork if that wasn't obvious. I'm not sure if he's done any other game artwork

Wow, talk about a varied career! That's super interesting, thanks!

phenomenal artwork on the box alone indeed :)

Is this a european copy of the game?

Supporter6 days ago

Not sure actually, but I opened it up to double check that the rulebook and the text on the cards are in English. And yes, it's in English lol

That is awesome! The cover just has some different looking language, maybe it is just Celtic?

You mean the French text?

"Au coeur des légends celtiques" means "at the heart of the Celtic legends".
