Who are your favorite board game artists or your favorite board game art?
Here are just a few of my favorites:
- Kyle Ferrin - e.g. Root - small animals with swords plus the inked look is awesome
- Mihajlo Dimitrievski (aka The Mico) - love the look of the Raiders and Architects series. I like how he pushes his character designs and packs them with so much personality
- Vincent Dutrait - his illustrations are reminiscent of old Hollywood noir theme and I just really like the classy look
- Justin Hillgrove is my recent discovery/favorite - he's been working on designs for a deck of cards, sharing each card design every few days on his facebook page

Kwanchai Moriya has made some amazing game covers recently and I've really liked his style.
Just to name a handful.

Beth Sobel does great work. Also a big fan of Nolan Nasar (sp?) for his sci-fi and fantasy landscapes. He’s stopped doing board game art however but is now CEO (I believe) of Deep Water Games.

Calico looks pretty good. I think scoring for cats is a brilliant idea haha Reminds me of Patchwork, but really only in theme.

Googled! Nolan Nasser. Looks really cool!
Ahh and yes, I've enjoyed Beth's work on a lot of the illustrations for Stonemaier Games. Nothing fancy but she does very beautiful and serene scenes, which I appreciate. I actually contacted her a while back for an interview opportunity but sadly didn't get a response :(

Dang, that's too bad she didn't get back to you. She probably gets a lot of requests, considering she's a fairly big name in the board game world. Although, I had a friend contact her a year or so back about doing art for his game. She responded that he'd probably want someone else for what he was going for, but at least he got a response.

I love Ian O'Toole's art. As far as board game art. I love love love the art in Scythe. It is just so beautiful.

Ian O’Toole is king for me. Every game I see that I enjoy the art for is almost always him lol

Yup, Ian O'Toole is definitely at the top! I just haven't had a chance to play a game with his work yet. And it's amazing that he's able to pull off not just the illustration but the graphic design of the game so well.

Oh yeah, hahaha. Ian's also another artist (alongside Beth Sobel as Ben mentioned) who hasn't yet gotten back to me about interviewing with me :( Hopefully some day!

I know he is pretty active in the Heavy Cardboard community so it might just be getting the BGA name out there more!
