As @Sliddell11 mentioned, we got a game night in! Started off with #Welcome to... then finished off with #Terraforming Mars. It was a grand ole time, I also posted the pic to prove that yes...we know each other and game together lol!

For sure TM. That seems to be a favorite, but Neal has been bringing some new ones to the table like Concordia, Brass, Welcome to... A few of us also like roll for the galaxy and 51st State as well.

Nice! I'm eager to try TM sometime. I haven't gotten together with my game group in a while. Going through game withdrawal! All my son wants to play now is Smallworld. hahahaha

Mmm TM and Smallworld are very different games! I’ve always wanted to play that though!

I like Smallworld, but I also like playing a variety of games, not the same few games every time. Drives me crazy how narrow his game choices are.

Totally understandable! I always like a good mixture too, I game based on what I am feeling...

It’s a a card driven engine builder at its core. You work to basically make Mars habitable by raise oxygen levels, heat, and oceans and the game ends when all three of those hit a certain point! It’s not too complex of a game, it is just a lot of info to process quickly when drafting cards, then remembered all of your steps when taking an action and managing your resources. It’s definitely a reactionary game, strongly based on the cards you are given/purchase!

I would play Concordia 9 out of 10 times over TM. It’s really slick and the pace of play is very fast which I like!

Dude it’s great! Neal could tell you more in depth, but it’s a great engine builder with a solid theme, and soooo many paths to victory. 4 of us were really close points wise, yet I only place one tile the entire game because all my points were elsewhere. It’s super fun.

I love the many paths to victory aspect. Is the art/visuals as bad as people say?

Haha as someone who really appreciates artwork in games, I like it. I don’t think this game is aiming for super clean sci-fi. I think it fits with a serious and realistic, kinda nerdy theme of space. It really works considering the kind of game that it is.

Haha alright, well I definitely want to try it some day. Maybe I'll pick it up myself down the road once we're ready to get something new into the rotation.

Such a great time! #Terraforming Mars: Prelude was a great addition to the game. And #Welcome to... was so good. Thanks for bringing it! Shreddington City all the way.

Prelude was a great addition. I think what is neat about it are the starting abilities you gain. It helps you formulate a strategy and implement it early on. Not to mention speeds up the game quite a bit. Last night we played 5-player in about 2 hours I believe. Which in my opinion, for that tyler of game and that many players, was not bad at all!

Definitely. Though there may be some luck involved with drafting and what not, I think the boosts are generic enough to help start any strategy regardless of the cards drawn. Really there’s so much to say about this game... it’s so good haha
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.

Seems like you guys had a blast. What sort of games tend to be a hit for your group?
