We tried a game with all of the Everdell expansions

The main board is in the middle, Bellefaire above, Pearlbrook to the left, and Spirecrest below. As you can see, it took up almost our whole table! Once we got it all set up, it worked pretty well! I ended up winning by a fairly wide margin, as I was able to get down a ton of production cards early, and my wife wasn't able to get many cards down until later in the game. All in all, it was a lot of fun, but the setup and teardown time was significant!

Wow...that is a table hog lol. Also kind of a bummer the Tree is not able to be really used with all the expansions.

You mean cause it would block one of the expansion boards?

Yeah it blocks the Bellfaire board if you put it in its original spot at the back of the main board.

Haha, if we wanted to use the tree, we could just put it up next to the Bellfaire board. All it does is hold some items, so its location isn't crucial. I suppose next time we could do that and just have that extra little visual.

I feel like that is part of the appeal of that game for me lol.

Haha it definitely adds to the atmosphere. Luckily the game is fun aside from it :)

Oh ya for sure. I enjoyed playing it regardless of the tree! It just makes it a little more unique

Looks gorgeous! What kind of sleeves are you rockin' there?

Thanks! They are called Arcane Tinmen. They're pretty nice.

This is such an appealing game. Which expansion would you say is your favorite?

That's a tough one, and I think it depends on how we're feeling that day, but I'd probably go with Spirecrest. It adds the most to the game of the three.

Nice, I always like seeing pictures of Everdell! So, would you say that it's likely for you and your wife to play with all of the expansions 100% of the time? Or do you think you'll be switching it up every now and then? Also, do both of you like this or #Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North more?

No, I think most of the time we'll only use one or two of them. It was just kind of a "let's try it!" thing, haha. None of the expansions feel like they elevate the game to a different level to where we "can't go back" to just the base game, so switching out between expansions will be fun.

And we both prefer Everdell over Empires of the North. So far my wife hasn't really warmed up to that one just yet. I hope she'll try it a few more times, haha.

is the game a lot longer than the base game cause of the expansions?

Setup and teardown is, yes. For actual gameplay, I'd say only a little bit. Pearlbrook gives you one extra worker (the frog ambassador), and Spirecrest adds a couple of extra steps to your "prepare for season" actions, which is 3x / person. All in all, I wouldn't say it feels much longer. Your number of regular workers remains unchanged, and the majority of your turns are unchanged, aside from some different goals and limitiations. In fact, I'd say that, since there are some higher value items available aside from the cards, we probably actually get fewer cards down into our respective tableaus, which each take a turn. So it might even out as far as number of turns goes.

I'm glad to hear that the game time is not significantly increased by the expansions. My wife is not a fan of long games but she does like the base game well enough. She never comes to the table until I get the game set up anyway so that is not much of an issue. Now I want to go get the expansions.

Nice! In that case I'd recommend Bellfaire and Spirecrest first over Pearlbrook, as that one I feel adds the least value to the game. All of the expansions are fun, though!

Thanks for the feedback.
