Just found out about this site.  Time to expore

Supporter6 months ago

I put up a weekly Feedback Friday post so let me know what you like/dislike/wish for!

Welcome! It's a friendly place and we're glad to have you around!

Nice idea 👍🏻

I'd probably be a big nerd and get strat-o-matic or APBA baseball

Turns out that Strat-o-matic is WAY cheaper

Supporter6 months ago

Marco Polo II: In the Service of the Khan or Empires of the Void II would likely be my main choices.

Supporter6 months ago

Any particular reason to choose the second marco polo over the first?

Supporter6 months ago

I've heard the second one is much like the first but better.  Honestly, I haven't played the first one but I have seen it played and watched videos etc and it seems right up my alley.

Supporter6 months ago

I admit that I hear travel is much tougher in the first edition and that is attractive to me.

Supporter6 months ago

In general, most people seem to think Marco Polo II is just a better Marco Polo, where it's an improvement from its predecessor while not doing anything radically different.

Other thoughts:

  • Traveling in MP I is very costly - some people like this because of how challenging and "tight" this makes it to get to your destinations (I'm in this camp). Some people don't and opt for alternate strategies that require very little traveling. Either way, MP II lightens the burden of traveling while also encouraging it by adding another element into the game.
  • MP II has added depth - the second game introduces another element into the game where the locations aren't just different because they have different rewards from the variable setup, but have an assigned "faction" of some sort that adds another layer of strategy.

Supporter6 months ago

Have you played the first one before? Just curious since I own it and got in several plays so far.

Supporter6 months ago

I haven't played it.  I've seen it played and watched videos and it seems up my alley for sure!

Supporter6 months ago

#Wingspan would be nice, but I'll probably also get some inserts for some of my owned games too

Supporter6 months ago

Caylus 1303. Thanks for the contest!

Once again. Wingspan.

Right now, I’d probably get #Le Havre or a few small games/expansions. Among those probably: #Race for the Galaxy: The Gathering Storm, #Railroad Ink: Deep Blue Edition, and others.

Imperial settlers

Supporter6 months ago

The art made me interested in this game but I have no idea how it plays. It stayed on my wishlist for quite a while haha

I played a stand-alone expansion at Dice Tower Cruise and really liked it.

I honestly have such a laser focus on the 20 anniversary edition of castles of burgundy, I am going to be ecstatic if I can get that. Been itching and waiting and keeping myself from impulse, cultivating the savor!

Supporter6 months ago

Have you heard about #The Castles of Tuscany? I'm really curious to see what they'll do with it.

Hadn't heard of it, I hope it is in line with its predecessor

Supporter6 months ago

If it looks as good as the cover and delivers on solid gameplay like its predecessor, I feel like it'll sell like pancakes

Glad you guys can still afford to do this :D

Supporter6 months ago

Me too! xD

This is cool . . . a great way to bring more people to the site.
Brand new here, just started looking around. I love to talk games with gamers.

Good to see you using the forums! Welcome!

Supporter6 months ago

Both are great choices, and they've been frequently mentioned by users in all past giveaways :)

I'm adding Atlantis Rising (second edition) to my list. It will be difficult to choose, but I would love to face the challenge. :)

Supporter6 months ago

Choosing is a fun challenge.

Absolutely! There are so many wonderful games!!!!

Supporter6 months ago

And I don't own most of them.

Now I'm looking at #Aftermath! I would love to try a story-driven game, and the reviews indicate that although the rulebook is not great, the storybook is wonderful as well as the story itself.

Supporter5 months ago

The art and theme are top notch on this one. But, I haven't played it.

Have you tried Legacy of Dragonholt? From what I've read,  the story is great,  but the price was high for the amount and quality of the components. Now that the price has dropped, I'm definitely interested!

Supporter5 months ago

Haven't tried that one either.

Supporter6 months ago

I also think that @philryuh is just trying to hold me to my resolution of playing the games I have as much as possible but not really putting my entries in, haha.  Thanks!

Supporter6 months ago

Hahaha what would you get if you won? Inis?

Supporter6 months ago

That's definitely in the running.  I'm also thinking about Empires of the Void II, or a few expansions.  Gotta win before I think too much about it though.

Right now I'm heavily thinking about getting Root back at ASAP.

I think I'd shoot for Aftermath or The Quacks of Quedlinburg.  I really think my daughter would like playing aftermath with me and Quacks looks like a fun game.

Supporter6 months ago

Quacks is great! And while I enjoy it at 2p, I prefer 4p even though it changes close to nothing about the game. Since it's mostly a multiplayer solitaire, a part of the fun for me is seeing others' reactions to their great or bad draws :)

Sweet!  How about a a 1/2 a point for every comment your topic generates?

Supporter6 months ago

We've entertained similar ideas before but ended up seeing that it leads to spammy behaviors or people trying to take advantage of it some way or another xD

Oh man. I here ya. It's like when a few people abuse the sick day policy and they take away sick days altogether

Supporter6 months ago

I’m in again! So much fun to hang out here.

Supporter6 months ago

Yeah, it’s especially fun when you win all the time. 😂😉

Supporter6 months ago

But of course....

At this point I think I would pre-order Root like some folks here! I think I will be getting a game or two for my birthday next week so that will determine my wants lol.

Supporter6 months ago

Let us know what you get for your bday, if you do get games that is.

I will definitely keep you all updated!

Supporter6 months ago

Great

Dude I would do the same for root!

Well this Friday we will see if the game is worth it! I am hoping it goes well!

Yeah I’m really looking forward to it!

Supporter6 months ago

Glad it was worth it.

Supporter6 months ago

I have no idea what I'll get if I win I'll probably need a little help.  I was hoping 303 (my area code) would be good luck for the last giveaway but it looks like my superstition was for naught, haha.

Edit: I mean I do have some ideas but I'm not 100% sure what I'd do.

Thanks @philryuh and @trentellingsen!  You are super generous.

I think I'll have to play it by ear...see what's priced at what. Some top choices are;

Of course, that could all change in a heartbeat :)

Supporter6 months ago

#Spirit Island is so so good

So I keep hearing haha I'm leaning toward it for my next big game acquisition.

Supporter6 months ago

Keep leaning, keep leaning......

Annnnnnnd there goes my equilibrium.

Supporter6 months ago

glad to hear it.

Supporter6 months ago

I know the feeling, the games I'm wanting to buy seem to change every week hahaha. I'm liking the idea of getting Architects, then Paladins, and then Viscounts in the future... the trilogies are so tempting!

Trilogies are tempting. But I like to have a complete collection, so if I start with one game in a trilogy, I'll need the others. It's a slippery slope indeed haha I would love the North Sea trilogy though... :)

Love that you guys are still going these giveaways, even though I don't stand a chance. As with last time for me it's probably between #Tuscany: Essential Edition and #Imperial Settlers: Empires of the North

Starting to lean #Raiders of the North Sea as my next "big game" purchase....

Supporter6 months ago

I see your comments. I wouldn't say you have no chance....

Haha, I comment a few times a day but guys like you and @Sliddell11 and a few others get unbelievable totals

Supporter6 months ago

You held 7% of the total entries on the last one! (6th most contributions)

Which is still a great odd for a giveaway, but yes, the top contributors sure make it tough xD

7%, not bad! Thanks for finding that info!

Supporter6 months ago

Assuming that I didn't win the last one..... Probably #everdell

Supporter6 months ago

To an extent, I feel like we're all influencing one another in our game purchases haha

Supporter6 months ago

Right now I would actually lean towards #Pax Porfiriana

Supporter6 months ago

But of course...

@philryuh thank you for counting my photo worthy! Haha

Supporter6 months ago

I couldn't decide which photo to use so I thought, why not use one of the cool photos posted by you guys? xD

Thanks for the photo!

Of course! Hopefully there will be more to come!
