What were the most funded and popular board game Kickstarter campaigns over the past few years?

2016 had Dark Souls and Massive Darkness.

2017 was dominated by Kingdom Death: Monster, 7th Continent and Gloomhaven.

2018’s chart was led by Tainted Grail, Zombicide: Green Horde and Batman.

In 2019 Etherfields is topping the rankings with Bloodborne close behind.

How is the next year going to look like? While guessing the winners of 2020 is near to impossible, we can already see some huge, ambitious projects slowly taking shape. Let’s look at them today!

The 7th Citadel

If the name didn’t already give it away: it’s a new game from the creators of The 7th Continent. Bruno and Ludovic from Serious Poulp could finally share something about their next project, as the final wave of shipments is complete.

The 7th Citadel seems to continue the gameplay concepts known from The 7th Continent, while also reaching new heights. The game won’t be connected to the older title by its story. Instead, we’ll explore a world that the authors describe as dark fantasy.

The gameplay is supposed to get enhanced. How? Most likely there will be a different focus, while exploring. 7th Continent’s motto said “Explore. Survive”. Finding food and shelter during your adventure were vital to completing any curse.
