So opinion time. There's this kickstarter for SUSD's expansion to a game called #Don't Get Got!. I have not played this game before, but it looks like great fodder for family gatherings or livening up an extended family vacation. I was planning on backing the kickstarter since it now includes all of the base game in the expansion I thought, might as well get both! Buttt the price for the game and shipping ends up being about $40 USD. Which seems to me a little expensive for this type of game. To compare, the original edition is going for a little under $20 on Amazon right now. Anyone played this game? How badly do I need more hidden goal cards?

Only because I'm super curious and about to post my own similar poll, lol did you ever get this?
TK2187 55 days ago
Oh yeah I meant to come back and post my ultimate decision here haha. I decided to just go with the base game.

This game looks like fun but I don't have big game days where this could be used.

I haven't played it, but $40 sounds quite expensive for a little party game

Haha yes, I was confused by that too when I first created a poll. You need to vote yourself to be able to see the results. Makes sense in some instances, but not so much in polls for something like this @trentellingsen

I've just added a little button called "show results" for the creator of a poll to see the results without voting now. It's next to the "poll ends in time left stuff"

That's a good question! Maybe@trentellingsen or@philryuh could help!

I have played #Don't Get Got!. It is a extremely situational game. Your group will either love it or really not like it. If they really like it, it will easily be worth 40USD. If they don't like it, then the base game isn't even worth it.
It is also worth considering that you have to have a good "time" to play it. I have had most fun with it on road trips. You could do it during a game night, while playing other games...... But, if you aren't going to have good times to play it...then it is not worth it.
One last thing, I assume SUSD profit a big from the sale of this expansion. If so, $20 to help support SUSD isn't that big a deal.

I think for a game like this, there's no reason not to trust that the expansion will be fine, it's essentially just more of the same simple concept. Their expansion for Monikers was good, so i say just go for it.

Was it good? Tell me more lol. I'm so concerned it's going to have inside jokes we wouldn't get because I don't follow them
TK2187 2 months ago
I hadn't really thought of that so much. I don't really follow them either, I'll watch their videos occasionally but I don't follow their content. My concerns were more that I wouldn't get the jokes because they're British haha.
sludj 2 months ago
Yeah that's exactly it. We love Monikers but a lot of the references are very American and it was over our head. The SUSD box gave us Brits a chance to know the references!
Dikembe Motumbo is a running joke in our group, because unless you know American sports you would have NO idea who that is. Any time this card came up, to new players it was like they were speaking another language haha
TK2187 2 months ago
I know who that is! But I'm just proving your point since I'm American and like basketball haha.
If I do end up getting it I'll hit you up for an explanation of all the ones I don't get lol

You like board games and basketball too?! Have you seen the KS for#Hoop Godz + 2nd Rap Godz Printing?
I'm not sure if I want to back it..
TK2187 2 months ago
I have not seen that. I did not know there were basketball themed board games haha. I have an account on tabletopia too if you want to give it a shot sometime. I don't use it very much so I'm not familiar with the platform as much as BGA.
cbrady748 Premium User2 months ago
Eh I don't have Tabletopia so that's okay. A few months back someone was selling an extra copy of#Rap Godz they got from the first KS. I bought it from them and found its just an okay game but the theme is what really sold me. My friend saw there was a second printing along with the basketball game so he passed it along. I admittedly didn't check it out much more than watching the video but I wouldn't imagine it would be all that great haha
TK2187 2 months ago
Yeah the gameplay doesn't look too fascinating but the theme looks cool.
You should check out Tabletopia sometime, they have much more complicated games on there (I think they have #The Gallerist or if not that then another Lacerda game) than BGA but they don't enforce the rules for you so its harder to use. I admittedly don't use it much since the learning curve is much steeper. I spend most of my time on BGA.

Yeah I agree! Is Tabletopia similar to TTS? I have an account there and occasionally will guilt trip a friend into trying something new out with me. Most recently it was #Cosmic Frog. As long as I play #Disney Villainous with him every so often, it seems to go okay lol.
TK2187 2 months ago
Its sort of like TTS, like a sandbox game but they have stacking and rolling abilities etc. I find some games in TTS have a little more functionality built into them? (I have only ever played a couple of games on there so I'm not super familiar with everything it can do.) They have scoring trackers and things sometimes?
cbrady748 Premium User2 months ago
It depends on the mods I think. I haven't played too much on there either but some versions of games I've found are "scripted" meaning they have automatic set up buttons or in some cases for end of round stuff. If I find one with a tracker those are especially awesome! One in particular I remember was for Terraforming Mars. It would show a number over each section of the player board to tally up how many of each resource you had remaining. Super helpful

Haha I never thought of it from the cultural aspect! I guess that's another reason to knock it down a peg or two.
cbrady748 Premium User2 months ago
I haven't played but I've heard about it from the Board Game Barrage podcast. They played when they went to some con I wanna say Dice Tower West but I could be way off. Either way, it seemed like it would be great for exactly the reasons you mentioned.
So a couple things: I obviously don't know how much spending cash you have for such things but the price difference doesn't seem all that much for extra content. That being said I haven't looked at the KS so I don't know how much extra stuff there is lol. Plus I don't listen to SUSD and similarly to how I feel about their#Monikers expansion, I think there would be jokes in the new cards that either I or the people I'm playing with wouldn't understand.
All this is to say that if you're interested in it let the FOMO take hold of you LOL
