If you could play games from one publisher for the rest of your life?

Which would you choose?
EDIT: No loopholes

This probably doesn't count but.... I would pick Asmodee as long as I could continue to play everything they owned.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

ahahaha! ok but which company inside Asmodee's cavernous insides would you pick from there?

rancidmike Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

loopholes!

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

He didn't say anything about not using loopholes....

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Yeah I guess I didn't. Now I have to edit the post haha

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

boo hoo

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Just did. Take that you pesky loopholes!

rancidmike Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Hahaha amazing

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

*bows* thank you, thank you!

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Ok Ok, I will think about it.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

haha looking forward to it

Skurvy5 Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

Lol. Don’t they own like half of board gaming?

Marshwiggle92 Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

More every year...

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Apparently after they had acquired all those companies, the company that owned Asmodee put it up for sale.

rancidmike Supporter42 days ago | 2 points[-]

Ooh, tough question. I guess... Z-Man? Z-Man is the most represented publisher in my collection, and they're not half-bad games! Pandemic, A Feast For Odin, Gaia Project, Carcassonne, Love Letter, Citadels. Other games by them I'd be interested in are Merchants and Marauders, Voyages of Marco Polo, Akrotiri, Chinatown, a bunch of Uwe Rosenberg, Stone Age, Terra Mystica, Lowlands, and Tigris and Euphrates.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

That's a good one... I hadn't thought of them. Dang it! Too many good games

HooperGirl 23 days ago | 1 point[-]

I guess I'll go with Rio Grande so I can at least play El Grande, Notre Dame, and Puerto Rico.  I'm sure I have others of theirs in our collection.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

I think u/rancidmike has convinced me to go with Z-Man.

Does that make you happy u/jamesreid860?

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 2 points[-]

I am happy :-) . Z-man is  a good one. so many good games there.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

It is still a tough choice. They don't have my favorite games. They have a lot of good solid games, with a lot of variety, but not my favorites.

But, if I went with Stonemaier, which I love, I would give up so many games I love. And, they don't really have any good "fillers" that might change, but, I need to have some access to games that play 30 min or less.

rancidmike Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Same deal. Z-Man doesn’t publish any of my top 5 (Concordia, Inis, Great Western Trail, Brass: Birmingham, Anachrony), but they publish enough really good games that i wouldn’t feel at a loss for options.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

So you like inis. I would like to play it, I think I would like it. I hear the game sorta stinks at two, is that correct?

rancidmike Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

I looooooove Inis. It's honestly a little out of left field for me, but it's such a smart and challenging design. I would say the more people you can play with, the better. However, I like the game at two--it's a different puzzle for sure. With more players it becomes a political game where war is always around the corner. With two players it's more of a cold war chess match. Highly recommend. Also recommend the expansion, and I'd go as far as to say that the "We need a king" module is almost necessary for some groups.

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

That might be enough to put it back on my list get list.I'll need to think about it.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Inis has always looked interesting to me too

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Zman has been popular

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Well that’s the point of this question. To put you in a situation that would never happen and make you make an impossible decision .... for our entertainment. Muahahha!

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

There you go.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Just so long as you know it...

sdirrane Supporter41 days ago | 1 point[-]

This is basically going to be the same as my Designer.  It's a toss up between Stonemeiar and Leder.  I think Leder would edge it out in the end.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

I think it might be Stonemaier for me. Not a lot of games but I REALLY like the ones they put out.
Runners up would be Renegade, Fantasy Flight, Plaid Hat, CGE, Stronghold.

Skurvy5 Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

Easy. Fantasy Flight Games. They’ve got all the best games.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

I had a feeling you'd pick them. They were in my top 3

BenjaminK 43 days ago | 1 point[-]

Probably Renegade since they have a heap ton of great games of all types.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Oh... maybe I need to change my answer. hmmm....

Skurvy5 Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

This is a good answer.

They have an impressive collection to be sure! Good answer

Marshwiggle92 Supporter43 days ago | 2 points[-]

Those are good lists.

Skurvy5 Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

These are some good games but there are also plenty that I’m not super interested in.

NAGfactor Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

Not fair to post such a tough question and then not answer it for yourself JamesReid860 :)

I really enjoy Everdell but not really intrigued by anything else Starling has published. I may say Starling if I could also play any games I created otherwise I am with Trent, Stonemaier all the way. Most of their games I could enjoy (Wingspan and Scythe are on my shelf already). Even their codenames for upcoming games is exciting, mostly because it's a Stonemaier product.

Skurvy5 Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

Yeah it’s tough when a publisher has one singular game and then a bunch of others you aren’t super interested in.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Thats true. Its all of the singular games from other publishers that I really like that makes me hesitate.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Hahaha! I just answered it! You're welcome

Stonemaier was my choice as well.

trentellingsen Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

I’d probably go with stonemaier. Viticulture is one of my favorite games plus I like Wingspan. I own Scythe but haven’t played it yet (I imagine I’d like it though)

Marshwiggle92 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

PLAY Scythe. It is my favorite game of all time.

sdirrane Supporter41 days ago | 1 point[-]

Can't wait for you to play Scythe and to hear what you think.  I love it.  I'm sure you've seen though (because I've mentioned it a few times) that the next time I play I want to use a combat variant I found that encourages more combat/player interaction.

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

I think I'd go with them too

Skurvy5 Supporter43 days ago | 1 point[-]

You haven’t played Scythe yet?!

JamesReid860 Supporter42 days ago | 1 point[-]

Give it a go! Its my #1 fav!
