Anybody still on the fence about John Company 2nd edition?

Supporter

Just curious if any of you are still on the fence about #John Company (Second Edition).  Currently there are only 4 hours left on the campaign.  I finally backed it a few days ago, but if you are still on the fence, Cole did a great stream on twitch yesterday. It may help you out if you are still on the fence. You can find that stream here.

Cheers.

I backed at $10 level so far. Still have to check out the stream. Maybe today?? So I take it that it seemed like a compelling solo game for you?

I think so, I actually am planning on moving back to the States around the time this pledge should fulfill, so I might even be able to play it multiplayer. It looks like it could be fun game, but mostly it looks like a fascinating solo design challenge, and I look forward to exploring that space.

Also, I felt lucky to pick up #Pax Pamir (Second Edition) since I missed the KS for that one and knew I didn't want to risk missing out on this one.  Plus, my FLGS did not back #John Company (Second Edition) so I wouldn't have been able to pick it up that way later.

#Pax Pamir (Second Edition) is a truly superior game. I missed it the first time around, but I did get in on the reprint kickstarter last year.

So good.  It's my #2 on my list of games.

In fact, I have a game night scheduled for it tonight.

Supporter22 days ago

It's my current number 3.

What are 1 and 2?

Of course I think most people know my 1 since it's been my 1 for nearly 2 years now.

Supporter22 days ago

Nice, although I don't know anything about either of these games.

Supporter22 days ago

They are good. A little wierd....but really good.

Supporter22 days ago

Cool.  I'm at my game purchase limit already this year, but I do think I'd like to check out an 18xx game at some point.

I started at a $1 back to do more research and was going to up my pledge in pledge manager.  However, after looking at it more closely, I ended up upping to the $80 pledge about a week ago.  I am so happy I ended up going in all the way on this one and I plan on adding the #Pax Pamir (Second Edition) metal coins to my pledge.

I think this is going to fill in nicely with my gaming group.

I also am a huge Cole Wehrle fan boy and want to support his projects.

I was on the fence for the most part...but gave in for a couple of reasons. The solo mode by Ricky Royal looks great, even if I don't like the game I can resell it, and it is Cole Wehrle and I like supporting that guy!

Supporter22 days ago

So, are you going to be getting the metal coins...?

At this point...no...but I might add them later depending on how I feel lol

Supporter22 days ago

I'm waiting to see what the designs are like... but, I think I might spring for them when the time comes.

I am most likely in the same boat. The production of the game is just so high and it would be a shame to play with cardboard money lol

Supporter22 days ago

They are the same price as the PP2E coins, and those were well worth it.

On the campaign is actually has them as double the cost...$15 versus $30!

Owner21 days ago

Ugh, I have a hard time saying no to metal coins, so if I end up backing, I doubt I'll say no to them xD

Yaaaa they just add so much tactile loveliness it is hard to deny that!

Supporter22 days ago

Yes, overall cost is twice as much, but you are getting twice as many coins, 80 versus 40....

Ahhh I see what you are saying. Yea I think it would be worth it. Very appropriate too considering the subject matter...greed at its finest lol

Supporter22 days ago

There is that...LOL

The other thing about it is that there will be multiple denominations and colours. So, I imagine that the profit margin might be even slimmer for Wehrligig.

And this is why I love supporting Wehrlegig...they always want the best for their games and customers!

That solo mode does really look great. I am excited to give that a try.

I am sure it will shift and change. I have already seen some rules adjustments to the base game just today that I would imagine impact the solo mode. The negotiation and promises system seems like a compelling way to keep the idea of leverage active in the solo mode!

Supporter22 days ago

I'm sure it will change. But, I do have a fair amount of faith in Ricky Royal.

Totally agree, him and David Turczi seem to be the top of the solo mode world.

Supporter22 days ago

You know, I have never played anything by Turczi.
