What "Themed" Boardgame Nights have you planned or do you plan on doing?

1.  I try to plan at least one #Firefly The Game night each year.  Might be tough to get going this year with COVID but this is one of my favorite game nights!  I put on Firefly the show on my TV and set the volumn fairly low so we can talk and try to find a good beers to pair with a cheese board.  We spend the evening flying around the 'verse, dodging reavers, and poking the Alliance.

2. Next year I am planning to start a Tomesaga night and play through #Architects of the West Kingdom, #Paladins of the West Kingdom, and #Viscounts of the West Kingdom with the connecting #The West Kingdom Tomesaga.  This will probably be a 4pm - 11pm saga to get through all three games with hopefully 4 players (5 if a #Paladins of the West Kingdom: City of Crowns expansion allows for a 5th player)

3. I want to host a Dinosaur theme game night.  My hope is to grab #DinoGenics at some point and play through #Tiny Epic Dinosaurs, #Dinosaur Island, and finish with #DinoGenics.

4. I may do a "nature" themed day with Wingspan and PARKS and ECOS.  I haven't decided on that one yet but I think it would be pretty fun.

Have you ever played a theme night?  If so, what type of theme did you have?  What type of game nights are you planning for once COVID allows for more gaming in home?

I don't think I've ever had a 'theme' night (I am impressed at how many games you guys are able to fit into an evening! But I love putting on game approriate music whenever we play.

We've done a dexterity theme and had 5 games going at once. Lots of people in our house haha But it was a lot of fun! We had games of #Crokinole, #Disc Duelers, #Zoo Ball, #Flip Ships, and #Coconuts. Most of the people who came were new to games but everyone had a great time.

I want to do a sci-fi/space themed night, as well as fantasy, real-time, and another dexterity night. Nature would be a lot of fun too.

What would be your set of Sci-Fi games you'd pick for the evening?

Depends who would be coming. But, ideally, they would probably include #Tiny Epic Galaxies, #Flip Ships, #Horizons, #Star Wars: Outer Rim, and/or #Scorpius Freighter

Nice, a good range of weight and style

I've never done a themed board game night, but we have done themed weekends during the pandemic, to mix things up a bit. So during the Disney weekend, we only played Disney board games (and wore disney clothes and costumes, and watched Disney movies and TV)

I don't ever drink wine, but because I love #Viticulture: Essential Edition we've done wine and cheese nights.

I also prefer to have Scotch with snacks whenever I play #Clans of Caledonia

Agreed! Same if I ever get to play #Brass: Birmingham.

If you want a Birmingham theme you should get some wassail, it's ale with baked apple, nutmeg, ginger and brown sugar, all brewed together.

I have no plans.... But, I would love to sometime, in the future, do a themed #War of the Ring (Second Edition) afternoon.

Everytime we play it we put the soundtrack on! (also, I'd aim for a War of the ring day rather than just and afternoon XD)

I am a early bird early to rise sort of person. So for that reason I suggested afternoon. I figured we might have to play until midnight, but the later it got the more I would feel exhausted, much like the characters in LOTR.

The first time we played #Dune I put on the soundtrack from the David Lynch movie, so that was kind of fun. I've done a day where we played #Evolution: Climate and #Oceans back to back, which was cool. We could easily add in #Wingspan for a 3-game animal extravaganza, haha.

Or do a game of #Tiny Towns followed by #Everdell for an "anthropomorphized animals" theme, lol. I'm sure there are tons of games that can fit into that theme (#Root probably being the most notable). Start off with an easy game of Tiny Towns to get everyone warmed up, then have a nasty game of Root, then a nice game of Everdell where we can all just get along and hang out, haha.

I love soundtracks for games, they just give it that extra feeling of epic-ness.

I like the planned atomspheric changes over the course of an evening with different dynamics in the games
