Review
Tiny Towns has replaced my use of Azul. Whenever I would normally grab it from the shelf, Tiny Towns has come to the table instead. What do you think? Tiny T......

Nice video. I played this one time at a local game night and didn't do well at all, but I really like the game and would like to play again. The variability of buildings available each game is great and it looks like a lot of replayability.

I want to try this game!!  Thanks for the review!  I like games that scale up to 6 too.  And I appreciate the different set-ups for replayability as well.

It's SO GOOD! My wife and I now always bring it to family gatherings and basically try to introduce it to all our friends. It's pretty inexpensive for what you get too.

Yes!  So many nice wood bits, which I appreciate.

Quick and to the point! Nice set up for recording. Makes me super interested in acquiring the game.

Awesome! Tiny Towns is pretty fantastic and yes, the setup is fantastic so expect a lot more!

This game looks interesting, and also has very cool wooden parts and the cards look nice.
The only thing I dont get, if it is about building a town, why are the player boards from Agricola?
Why there are no dirt roads / stone roads instead of the grean bushes, it is just upsetting they did not dedicate some time to make a more thematic playerboard (the box art is also not so appealing).

I had never thought about that!! I think I would have been nice to have some cobble stone roads/lamp posts and other more thematic stuff!

That's a great point. It seems like such a simple way to upgrade the feeling of the game!

I've been waiting for this to go up for a while! Love the style of the video.

Tiny Towns was a much thinkier game than I had expected it to be. I still like Azul, but as someone who likes trying out multiple strategies/discovering them, I could see how Tiny Towns could replace it.

Edit: Just remembered several other areas that I liked Tiny Towns more on.

  • It has a theme
  • It's better at masking other players' strategy
  • It makes me feel like a kid again to play with all these buildings
  • It was more fun to see the players' reactions whenever someone would call out a color; a bit more player interaction whereas my experience with Azul so far has been players staring at their own board most of the time (unless you're playing with more experienced people)

Azul was a big big hit with my group and I can’t imagine a game taking its place. But that being said... Tiny Towns might be one I’d like more. Don’t get me wrong, I like Azul but I think after my plays I’m a bit Azul-ed out.

I have played this once and I have played Azul probably 15 times. I think Azul to me feels a little bit more thinky and competitive, Mostly because there is a lot in Tiny Towns that you just cannot control! I like the variability of Azul, which has been aided by having Azul: Stained Glass of Sintra.

I may have hard feelings toward Tiny Towns because I had an AWFUL first game. I scored like 8 points lol. I should give it another go.

Scoring 8 points would leave me sour too lol

Edit: what happened?

I planned very poorly and I chose to pursue pretty low scoring buildings. We didn’t play with the recommended first game buildings so I blame that a little but it was mostly my ineptitude....

I see. Yeah, I didn't even try to go for the more "complicated" building on my second round, just went for cottages. My plan completely backfired because I was the only one doing that and kept having to place colors that served no use at all for me lol

That was my biggest challenge. I kept thinking about what I wanted to do and not maximizing what I was given!
