Black Friday plans
Curious what, if any, game related shopping that you have in mind for today.
I, personally will probably not be doing any black friday shopping. I will probably check out GameNerdz once or twice to see if they have anything I need to do anything I need to buy.

Had to grab a few that were really great prices. Got terraforming mars for half price at $25 CDN as well a reef for about $12 as well.

Boardlandia seems to have lowest pricing this weekend on most games that aren't getting the very discounted deal of the day pricing on other sites. 15% off their usual decent prices.
I was mostly shopping for gifts this weekend and picked up a couple things.

I don't have any plans. Usually I don't look so I don't buy anything, but as I do occasionally check Amazon's Deals of the Day I usually end up impulse buying some stuff if they have any good stuff on sale.

So far this year I picked up #Qwinto, #7 Wonders Duel, #Unearth, #Forbidden Sky: Height of Danger, #The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine, #Trekking the National Parks: Second Edition, and #Paladins of the West Kingdom. The only one I'm pretty sure I'm keeping is Paladins. Most of the others will be Christmas gifts except Forbidden Sky and The Crew will go in my "maybe gift, maybe keep for myself" box of limbo.

Is it not any good? I heard the whole series was good but I haven't played any of them before.

I thought I would like it far more than I did mainly because I like #Orléans which isn't 100% similar but they are pretty close I think. I found it to be a lot to set up and pretty difficult to do well. That being said I've only played 3 times, once at 2p and twice solo, so I might just be terrible at it. But it is on my "I wouldn't care if this left my collection" list

Aww well I get free returns until end of Jan. I bought it on the strength of the buzz only. I'll give the actual gameplay a look and decide if I want to keep it or gift it I guess.

I just want to chime in to say don't give up on #Paladins of the West Kingdom too soon. It is a good game. When I first watched videos of the gameplay I wasn't impressed. But once I actually played it, my opinion changed.
Just another perspective, even great games won't be for everyone.

Like cheeses, I generally like all games I play lol. Most likely it will be fine (provided I actually open it). Any thoughts about how this particular one stacks up against the rest of the games in its series?

It is not as straight forward as #Architects of the West Kingdom . It is near even with #Viscounts of the West Kingdom as far as rules complexity goes. Actually understanding what you need to do on your in order to make it a good one is probably a hair easier in Viscounts. They really all three feel very different from each other, but I enjoy them all. Currently #Viscounts of the West Kingdom is my favorite.

I would think #Architects of the West Kingdom would be the most popular just because it's been out the longest and is the most approachable. That being said here are some of the ratings stats from BGG

The gameplay was what hooked me but actually playing was a chore. Hope you like it more though!

I don't have any game-oriented shopping in the plans for today. However, I too, will be checking GameNerdz once or twice today (and every day until Christmas) checking on all of the items on my wish list that are out of stock that I can use my recent $200 giveaway giftcard win to purchase for myself and one or two gifts for the family.

If you haven't activated your customer hold option yet you might want to do that.

I wasn't aware of this option. Thanks for letting me know about it! I just found info about it in their Customer Service drop-down menu and emailed them requesting that option on my account.

Oh yeah man that is essential! Don't know if it says it on the site but they recently told me you can have stuff on hold for 6 months

I didn't buy any games on Black Friday but I did order a 3D printer to print game related items ;) Does that count?
The Dice Settlers for $10 was tempting though.
