You seem to have a never ending list of ideas for the site, and I am very appreciative of that
trentellingsen Supporter12 months ago | 2 points[-]
I still feel like there’s so much to do! By the time I finish a new set of features I’ve already added more ideas to the roadmap 😜
ursasmar 12 months ago | 2 points[-]
And you're doing all of this as a one man show?
Yup! I'm hoping it'll grow to the point I can hire more people.
walterbd 12 months ago | 3 points[-]
This is a great way to get your community active! Hope it continues to grow and develop on this site; its quickly becoming my favorite.
I'm hoping to do a lot of these too. Some would be focused around adding and updating games in the database since it's wiki style too.
walterbd 12 months ago | 2 points[-]
hope nobody starts abusing the wiki aspect and sabotaging game descriptions. is there anything in place to flag stuff like that?
trentellingsen Supporter12 months ago | 1 point[-]
It saves every version of the game page and logs the user who made the change. During the contest I'll be making sure that any abuse of it isn't accepted as an entry.
Sounds efficient! hope its not too much extra for you. I haven't seen any abuses of the format yet, but then again i haven't been looking too hard.

I was more thinking Database Queries ;)
FirstJohn318 12 months ago | 1 point[-]
I guess if you wanted to be technical about it.

This site has really expanded since I last visited it. Going to have to make more frequent visits.

This is great

Do comments/replies on posts that began before the contest count. Like if I made a comment on a post from 2 weeks ago?
They do not. It's just during the contest period.
Ok good to know. I’ve been going back to posts and trying to reignite the conversation lol
OH! Yes, any comments on old posts do count. I misread what you wrote before thinking you were asking about old comments. Since it's a new comment in the contest period it will count.
Whew, good to know!!!
What time is the winner announced on Wednesday? Also how will they be notified? The new DM feature ;) lol
The winner will be announced on Saturday at the latest, but most likely Tuesday around 5pm (pacific).
Ok, then how does the winner claim his prize?
I'm going to ask the winner what game they want, get the shipping info and then buy it for them :)
FirstJohn318 11 months ago | 1 point[-]
Can you get expansions with the game. Again one of the games I’m looking at is overlords of infamy and you can only buy it from the publisher but when you can buy it you can add the expansion also. Is that acceptable as long as the value isn’t over 60. And does the $60 price include shipping?
Expansions are fine and it doesn't include shipping.
Out of curiosity...what about Kickstarters?? lol
I'm going to say no to kickstarters. There are far too many logistics involved in that.
Worth a shot...was thinking about Paladins...lol
Yes I'll DM them and make a post on the forum as well.
RedStar 12 months ago | 2 points[-]
I do too.
Where can we pick the prize from if we win? There is a game I am looking into called Overlords of Infamy, but the only way to buy it is from the publishers website.
You can get it wherever you like. I tend to just go with the easiest option when ordering for the winners.

Looking forward to exploring the site more, and Like that you can enter your Sweepstakes without a huge amount of time investment.

Question about the prize. Is it just $60 to put towards game stuff or does it have to be a $60 game? I'm thinking Architects of the West Kingdom and the metal coins which should be under $60 but is more than just a game.
I was expecting a $60 game, but getting component upgrades and things that all add up to $60 sounds reasonable to me!
Haha, you should totally make a post for that. It could be a weekly challenge or something even.
Isn't that what I just did?
care to play? lol
Make a dedicated post so it doesn't get buried and I'll join! You can create a post here.
The contest is posts/comments/replies anywhere in the forum ;)
oh, so it is not on this particular post? then how exactly is the winner determined with a RNG?
Also, I made the post, but I can't seem to find it.
You can see all your posts in your profile.
I can do a query on the database based on the date that the posts/comments were made.

How do you pick the winner?
trentellingsen Supporter12 months ago | 3 points[-]
I'll be using a random number generator based on the posts and comments in the database starting from today when the contest started until the end date to pick the winner. I'll be checking to make sure the user selected didn't post unacceptable material as well (like spam and those kind of things).
raptore39 12 months ago | 2 points[-]
What about a post containing Spammers?
All jokes aside, this is awesome!
StanManly 12 months ago | 3 points[-]
I see what you did there! :)
Haha! The theme of that game seems great.
I'm am impressed with the embedding feature for a boardgame and how easy it is. Well done.
Thanks! It felt really important since I'm always looking up games I see in conversations on other sites. Eventually I'd like to make a little feature to hover and get a preview too.
Do we have to post individual comments (like this one) to qualify. Or would replies count also?
replies count too!
the email says "Each post or comment is 1 entry so keep the conversation going!" so i think replies also count? (based on the idea of keeping the conversation going, which i would interpret as not starting a new comment thread)
Yes. Replies count!
glad to know!!!
This is awesome!!! I didn’t get to win the code game so I hope I win this. Can’t really buy any games this year because I bought so many kick starters last year that are coming this year.
I'm planning on doing quite a few giveaways in this fashion so good luck! You'll have lots of chances!
Do we have to post individual comments (like this one) to qualify. Or would replies count also? My new comments are not posting properly :(
nevermind they are just not in the correct spots lol.
haha, well please let me know if you do end up finding some weird issues or bugs and I'll fix em right up.
Replies count too!

Thanks for the giveaway. I have a whole list of 2019 games that are begging to join my collection. :)
What are your top 3 that'd you would want?
Wingspan, Sierra West, and the Adventure Games from Kosmos.
StanManly 12 months ago | 2 points[-]
Sweet! Thanks for the opportunity!
You're welcome! What game would you pick if you won?
It would be between Everdell or Root. I'm sure my kids would love either, given how much they love animals.
Root is such a lovely game. The art is great, the components are really satisfying to play with, and the mechanics are really enjoyable.
I've been checking it out, and the art that I've seen is amazing. I hope to try it out soon at our local Game Festival.
Root is great. I played the life size version of it at PAX Unplugged. The rules can be confusing though. Whenever my friends play it they always call me and ask for rules clarifications lol.
It's certainly the kind of game that needs a few plays to really understand since each player has their own rules.

Great way to grow the community! Alas, I'm not eligible... :-(
One of the things I particularly dislike about BGG is how US-focused it is, when boardgaming is a truly international hobby. It's great to see BGA also has non-US prices, which is a good start for us overseas crowd. :-)
I do hope to expand the site to be more internationally friendly as well. I don't have too many prices yet but will be growing that to more stores when I can.
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
