Which Century is Better?

I like the game Century and want to buy either Golem Edition or Spice Road. I don't imagine buying the other games to go with spice road but I don't want to not have the opportunity in the future either, even though I like the look and theme of Golem Edition better.

There seem to be a ton of people who prefer the Golem edition.  I gotta believe they'll create the expansions for it also.

I agree. The demand was way higher than they expected and they are probably working on something at this point for it.

I'm in the same boat with Exploding kittens since they changed the card design but at least I have a work around being able to sleeve the cards. Have you played Century before? If you're not looking to sink time and money into the expansions I would go for the Golem edition and just call it good.

I have played it a bunch. My friend owns Golem Edition which is why I know how cool it is. I'm probably going to just go that route.

Sounds good here's hoping you find it on sale too.

I set a price alert for both, haha.

I do like this game, for the esthetics I put golem edition on my wishlist

I’m not sure the other games are an improvement to this game, I believe the elegance of the design shouldn’t be cluttered by extra rules and mechanics

I haven’t played the others, I did see some reviews of eastern wonder, and they couldn’t convince me to try it. It came across more like an average design where spice road is a great design

+1 for Golem Edition

The biggest thing the other comments have missed is compatibility: Century: Spice Road & Century: Eastern Wonders have a combined form (From Sand to Sea) which is pretty good and definitely a big selling point for the Century series. The third and final installment in the series (Century: A New World) isn't available yet but will also feature combined games (combining with each of the first two games and combining all three games, for a total of seven unique games). The hitch: Golem edition features gems, not cubes, and uses different colors. While you can still work around this and combine them, it removes a lot of the elegance. Save yourself the trouble and buy Spice Road (and buy Eastern Wonders while you're at it - it's a great game).

I think that Century: Golem Edition is the one that people get most excited about because it really has a solid theme that doesn't feel tacked on.

The thing that I really like about Golem Edition is the components matching the them and how the art matches the mechanics really well too!

I got a small spark of joy when I noticed that each golem has the same crystals as their point requirement.
