BGA Feature #34 Major Game Page Overhaul (Better Organization)

I've gone through and reimagined the look and feel of the game page based on some other websites that I like better and I'm really much more pleased with the way the information is laid out. It more naturally shows the important information of the game on both desktop and mobile by grouping things. Before everything was chaotically in boxes everywhere and now things are collected together in a, hopefully, more understandable way.

Please leave your feedback I really want this to be an amazing page to understand more about and interact with your favorite games.

I like it quite a bit better, I do think that it would be nice to have it show your logged plays as well.

speaking of, where's the option to log a play on the game page?

I took it out since we have the one in the navigation menu. Were you using the game page one often?

I generally did it from the game page

I was, but I don't think it matters. I was looking for the game, then logging it. I can do it the other way around.

I agree ;)

Nice! I’ll check it out and leave some feedback

I forgot to comment on one thing. I'm not sure how you feel about it, but if I'm trying to go to #Viticulture: Essential Edition's game page through the main search bar, I wish there was a difference between typing in "viticulture" and pressing enter vs. typing in "viticulture" and then clicking specifically on the game you want from the suggested list. I'd expect the first approach to function the same as it is right now, whereas the second approach should land you directly on that game's page.

Edit:

I know we already talked about this but I'm leaving it here for others to see and to get their feedback as well. For the game rating, it'd be good to have a system in place to balance out a user who gives a poor rating on a game that hasn't even been released. For example, Frosthaven's page already has a low rating. Either have dummy ratings in place to average it out, or require an extra step to verify that user should be able to rate the game.

For your first point. I was just thinking the same thing recently! Nice! For the second point, let's hop on video chat and discuss it more. I've got some ideas.

I like it a lot. I've always wanted to see all of the crucial info at first glance. The changes definitely allow that and the mobile layout/ordering has become more intuitive to follow. There are things I can comment on but I know they're all items you'll be getting to. Looking forward to seeing where it's at by the end of this week!

Here's a snapshot of the forum section on #Viticulture: Essential Edition's game page:

The "create post" button is big and awkwardly placed for mobile. The forum section gets squished too.

It looks like there's a bug where if the title's too long it squishes things strangely. I'm going to be upgrading the forum section to have the look and feel of the main forum anyways which should fix many of those issues.

On a similar note, when a comment on a forum post includes long link, it ends up running off the page and makes all text on the lines below run off on the page as well. Wish I had an example.
