If you've seen my other posts I love thinking about questions like this...

If you could only pick one primary mechanic in games you own which would you pick and why?

I'm sure most people can guess that Area Control would be mine.  I love Area Control because it often requires negative player interaction.  I also like a map that gets smaller over the game and feel like it helps create tension throughout the game.

What about you?  What's your one primary mechanic?

I think I can guess 's answer.

Probably worker placement for me. Most of my favorite games revolve around that as the core mechanic.

I think I would want games to include some kind of trading or negoiating mechanic, anything that lets me cuts deals and build alliances around the table.

Mmm nice.  Yeah I don't think I have a game with too much negotiating (Root does have a bit of that in the meta game). But I think I would like to play a game that has that as a main Mechanic.  I love making deals.

I often end up making deals even in games where it isn't necessarily meant ot be part of the game. I love bizaare trades like 'I'll give you three wood now if you promise not to take that card and let me use your trading post once I get my iron' or something like that.

I really want to play #Sidereal Confluence (Remastered Edition) at some point for this very reason, it is a game all about trading and making deals

So true, I love any game where I can try to make a deal, even if it's not officially part of the game.  I'm a talker and negotiator by nature.

Very much the same, although at this point a lot of my friends assume I am up to something no matter what!

Haha, yep, tableau building is present in most of my top games, though I'm trying to expand my tastes! Area control is up there for me if you consider abstracts strategy games to be area control games, which I personally do.

It's not my favorite.... But I would pick deck building just because it is so varied.

I still haven't found (or played many really) the deck building game for me.  I really like the idea of the Mechanic and would love to add it to my collection at some point.  Fingers crossed that #Dune: Imperium would fit that need especially since I'm obsessed with the IP.
