Played my first game of Dune: Imperium

No better way to start off the year than with this beauty. Paul Dennen, of #Clank! A Deck-Building Adventure fame, has knocked it out of the park with #Dune: Imperium. Deck-building merged with worker placement in an easy to teach game, where tension is deliciously layered into all aspects of the game: is my opponent planning to climb up the same faction track as me? Will the spot I want to go to be taken? What intrigue cards have they drawn? What tricks are they planning for the combat phase. All those factors make for a fantastic experience. As a Dune fan, I had a great time reading all the cards. One of the best 2020 releases.

I keep hearing good stuff about this one.  I have a baseline aversion to IP games.  I don't know why,  but I do. This one might overcome that aversion.   What are the similarities to Clank?

I'm the opposite of , I've played Clank but not Dune Imperium haha. Will be trying it out in the next two weeks though. At first glance, there doesn't seem to be any similarities at all. The only thing that I could notice was that the graphic design has somewhat of a resemblance. It's clean and straightforward just like Clank's. And while deck-building is less prominent in Dune: Imperium, I'm guessing that it's seamlessly integrated as part of the game, just like Clank was.

Definitely  keep us posted on what you think of it once you get it played!

No idea, haven't played Clank!

I do have#Clank! In! Space! on my shelf of opportunity though.

Ha! I like the moniker "shelf of opportunity" better than shelf of shame! Whenever you get the chance to play #Clank! In! Space! let us know what you think.  It currently holds the record for the game that sat on my shelf the longest unplayed. It ended up being one of my older kids favorite games and I recently picked up #Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated to play through with them in 2021.

Glad you enjoyed it! I love games where you are trying to second guess your opponents, so you are actually invested in their turn. Was there a bit that really stood out?

Cool! The guy who won our game used him as well. I used Beast Rabban. His signet ability is pretty cool!
