Another awesome looking Kickstarter with a SciFi theme that is just way too pricey. Bummer.
What do ya'll think?

Does look like it could be a lot of fun. I wonder if it would have enough replayability after you'd played each planet, as if the novelty of exploring might be a big chunk of the enjoyment? But I would absolutely want to try it...if someone else had it.

For sure, but I do think there is more to the variability than just each planet. However, I don't mind playing the same board in a lot of games so I'd be okay with it. One of the High School (soon to be college) students I work with backed it so I'm just going to wait for him to get back for Christmas Break to try it out.
Haha, always good when someone else backs a game so you don't have to :D

I am wondering what @skurvy5 thinks of this one? I know you don't like to back anything, but will it interest you once it hits retail?

Wow this does sound really cool but there is no way I can spend $110 on a Kickstarter. Will have to hope it hits retail.
Also, I just listened to the Cole Wehrle Oath interview and I don't see there being anyway I don't back it.
Yeah. That's how I feel about Moonrakers too, the Kickstarter price was way to high for what you get. I hope both games make it to retail at a more reasonable price down the line. Because honestly, this game looks like it would be so much fun. And this is coming from someone who isn't too hot on coop games.
Do you find it's generally worth waiting for a game to come to retail rather than backing it?
Most of the time yes. Especially now that I've backed a few games. I've found many of the KS exclusives to be less awesome than they marketed. Plus the price usually drops for the most part with retail.
However, my one game purchase this year was a KS backing, but it was a company I trust and a company I want to support. Also, I do believe that with their other KS projects you actually got more bang for your buck in what was included in the KS edition.
Gotcha, makes a lot of sense. What have been your most disappointing and satisfying KS projects?
And what did you get this year?
I love Western Legends as a game but wish I had waiting for retail. The KS was too expensive and the Stretch Goals were nothing great. I am happy I backed Tiny Epic Tactics and Tiny Epic Zombies for the most part, but budget wise I probably could have picked up both for about 1/2 of what I paid to back them.
I am soo happy I backed #Root: The Underworld Expansion. While it didn't have traditional Stretch Goals (fine by me), it included a few nice extra items that are not included in the retail version. Yes you can pick up the #Root: The Exiles and Partisans Deck but I'm glad I got it with the game and I got all the nice little extras, the resin clearings, the additional vagabond meeples.
I backed #Oath: Chronicles of Empire and Exile which is the same publisher and designer as Root so I'm really excited about it. It had some extras and is a bit lower than what it will be at retail. Plus I want to support Leder Games and I know it's going to be a game I love.

Looks pretty cool, but definitely too pricey for me. One day, when I'm rich and famous (or just rich), I'll back these projects. Until then...it's up to the others in my game group haha
I've found that about 6 - 12 months after any retail release the price drops considerably from the Kickstarter price. I know it misses out on some of the exclusive Kickstarter content, but if the game is good enough it should still be awesome even if it misses out on some things. $110 is way to high for me to spend on a game now though, unfortunately. It looks really cool. I feel like the theme matches as well.

Looks beautiful. $110 if you live in the US isn't cheap.... But that is sorta the way these sorts of games are going.
Yeah, its hard though when you back some games that offer as much content and they only end being about $60 after shipping. Especially because I really want to get a good SciFi themed game.
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
