I think it's an improvement? It's at least making me feel like pausing for couple of seconds at least. I've always passed straight through the home page and went to the game pages.
If anything, I think it'll make it much more welcoming for those who aren't hobbyists, and that's great.

I hate it. But I fully expect it to grow on me. That's how changes usually work for me.

No issues with the BGG home page. I think it's more up-to-date and visually appealing. Not necessarily more functional, but it's all good.

I like it. I think it's been needing an improvement for a long time. BGG looks so outdated to me

It is for sure cleaner and more user-friendly-looking, but is an extra click for what i go on there for which is slightly annoying but not a big deal.

I can't tell if it's any better than their old design. It looks more modern, but it still feels pretty unfocused and disorganized. I don't think the visual presentation makes a ton of sense, at least on a desktop. Everything is larger than it used to be, but there are so many subsections with too many variants of layout that I think visually it comes across as a bit confused. You see less content on a screen's worth of real estate than before, so it feels slightly less functional than their old home page, which already felt very outdated.
That said, I like some of the new sections of the home page, which are similar to pages on this site that I've enjoyed: the mechanic, designer, and artist spotlight type sections. I like the inclusion of more images for videos, news, and game links; I think that was desperately needed from where the old home page was. I wish they kept the pager control for the forum subsections that used to be on the old home page. Only seeing 5 or 6 threads in each of the sections seems kind of pointless; I think they'd be more useful if the pagers were put back in. Visually, I think it feels much better on mobile, and it wouldn't surprise me if that was what it was designed for first.
I wonder if it'd be a bit more focused of a design if they sectioned together larger categories of those subsections on the home page. Have a spotlight, forum, news, shopping, reviews and videos, etc. sections in a top bar of the home page, maybe it would give the user a better presentation for what they're looking for. Or maybe that's too close to this site's design. The content is so interleaved currently, that I don't find that I focus on anything very long, which means I don't often end up clicking through to anything if it isn't a game link.

It's the reason I'm here. Also got banned there after being a member since 2002. Have been looking for an alternative site for a long time. Bgg' s problem is it has no competition. I would like to know how to import my 400 game reviews over without re writing everything.

You can upload files here too. On game pages in the left column there's a file section with "Add file". Another way to add files is to create a new forum post and choose the "link" type of post and there's an "upload" link to use. Which, seems pretty hard to discover now that I explain that way, haha.
Is that what you have in mind or is there a different use case you're thinking of?

I think I'm pretty middle of the road on it. It'll take some getting used to but I rarely look on the home page much anyway.

I think I knew I would hate it when they announced it and it was confirmed, some of the things I really liked have been changed like the hotness list. I loved just have the list up on the side but they made it a scroll in the middle of a page. Not my fav update.

It's okay. I've basically been going straight back to the old layout (dashboard) every time haha. I'll give it more of a chance though.

I've been using it for a few days and, while I do like the aesthetic direction BGG is heading better than what it's been, I don't find the homepage all that useful. My bookmark is on the subscriptions page, since I use that more than the homepage. I'll probaby head to the homepage once in a while to see what's there, but I don't care if I see it every day.

I feel the same. Usually just go on to log my plays and pay no attention to the home page.
