I can hear them...playing games...

So I'm at my wife's relative's house in Minnesota and everyone is playing games and here I am sitting in their office working. And I can hear them from where I am! haha I don't think I've ever had a day as difficult to work as this one. Just thought I'd share so we can all share in my jealousy hahaha

In other news, I played Point Salad with everyone during my lunch today, and I'll be off work at 4:00 today and THEN the games I will play! I guess it's not so bad  :P

Ha!  That is hard when you can hear the fun but not participate!

Ha!  I had a snow day but it's all packing no playing here at my place.

I want a snow day! It's supposed to snow a ton here (which is awesome!), but working remotely doesn't include snow days haha My goal in life is to get at least one snow day before my life comes to an end.

One of the many great things about being a teacher.  This is our third already this year.

Very nice. Do you have to make those days up at the end of the year, or are they freebies?

Supporter12 months ago

Wish I was there with you! Instead I put up Christmas lights on the house.

That is still more fun than what I'm doing. I'm sitting at SAL waiting to pick some people up. Their flight was delayed so I'm here longer than I hoped.

That's important too! So the uncle here has had his lights *up* for a month or so now, but won't plug them in (something about Thanksgiving?). So, my wife's cousin thought it was high time to light the place up, so we plugged them in to the outside lights last night. He can't get mad because we're guests. Right? haha But yeah, best to get those lights up before the snow comes!

LOL. Judging by the sounds what do you think they are playing? What are you hoping to play this evening?

I have no idea. Turns out, one uncle and his wife (who arrived last night) are playing Jaipur. Everyone else is napping or reading or busy doing something else, so I don't feel so left out anymore haha Still, if I weren't working, I'd be playing games with him. He's huge into games. He has a ton as well, and he brought a lot with him, too.

He mentioned playing Western Legends, so I really hope that happens tonight. Also Wingspan. Those are the two I'd most like to play. I brought Outer Rim as well, so I really hope we play that sometime this week as well.

I really hope you get to whip out Wingspan. Would be a great lead-in to your secret agenda to promote BGA and talk about the wonderful gifts it comes with as a bonus ;)

But seriously, I'll be hoping that it comes out for you all to enjoy (and.... that they would actually enjoy it haha)

They will enjoy it. They're all into birds and board games. But there are so many other games they'd also like to play. Time to lay my subtle plan...

Supporter12 months ago

Don't make it too subtle.....

I really want to play western legends sometime.

I played it once with my wife, but it requires a dummy player (AI) with just two players, so it's best with at least three. I can see having more players making things more interactive. With the two of us, we kind of just did our thing where we wanted. With more players, I'm guessing you'll be fighting each other more. Good game though. Lots of choices and different strategies to follow.

It’s a lot of fun at high player counts.  I’ve played it at 6 quite a few times.  I could see 2 being a little meh.

Welp, we played it with three tonight. Much better than with only two, but I’d still love to play with more people. It was loads of fun though. I even won, which is the first time I’ve won any game—or even come close to it—since being here haha

Supporter12 months ago

Nice!  One thing I really enjoy is taking of the role of NPCs.  It’s leads to interaction even if it’s not direct.

Yeah, it is nice with NPCs, and they really good for that. But there's just something about arresting another player that's soooooo satisfying haha

I usually go Wanted but I also love the 52 card action deck.  It leads to interesting choices.  As a Wanted player do I hold onto my Ace to protect myself from Marshals?  Do I use it to rob the bank?  Do I play poker.  It’s light but still requires some though and planning.

Supporter12 months ago

Glad you won. I assume it felt like it would still be more interactive with more players?

Oh yes. I can see a lot more player interaction as the board fills up. Definitely need to play it with more. And soon!

Supporter12 months ago

Oh it does.  And it’s fun because you sometimes are forced to try and work together as Wanted players even if you don’t want to.  Lots of table talk trying to work against Marshals

Supporter12 months ago

Do it, then write us a review.

We shall see...haha One of the great things about getting a game not for review is that I don't have to review it :)  But I suppose I *could* do a quick writeup...

Supporter12 months ago

You know, that is a good point.

Supporter12 months ago

That is exactly why I don't expect to buy it.

Yeah...I wish they'd just put the minimum player count as 3, rather than 2 and have a dummy player. Escape Plan is like that, too. Playing solo requires controlling TWO dummy players and two players has one AI player. Just say you need three people to play haha

Supporter12 months ago

Almost every time I've had to play with a dummy I felt like I was the dummy for agreeing to go through that.

Supporter12 months ago

lol.
