Look at this art! So fun.

I feel like the kid in the rollerblades is looking into my soul! But I enjoy the hand-drawn style :)

Hmm maybe I'm in the minority, but I actually am not a big fan of the look of these cards. This art style worked great for the woodland creatures in #Root, but for whatever reason, I'm not digging it for humans.

I’m definitely so-so on the art. Maybe it’ll look better in person? Really wish they would’ve kept the Roman theme.
So for me the Whimsical nature of the theme ties well to the style of art, although I can see why one would not prefer it for human characters. Also, every summer we had 3 - 4 different Forts (at the same time) around our neighborhood so the theme really resonates for me. Having 4 children myself also makes the theme appealing because I think they are more likely to play a game with this theme and style than they would with a Roman theme.
But I know you love Roman themed games so I understand where you are coming from.
I’m not actually against the theme of this game at all. What bothers me is that they took a Roman themed game and turned it into this theme. If I had never learned that this game was repurposed then I probably would be happier with it. But knowing that the world lost a potentially amazing game involving Romans makes me sad.
I suppose I would feel that way if the original theme that the game was based on was particularly appealing to me. I don't have a strong draw to Roman themed games so the change in theme is kind of a bonus for me.
It does sound that it will be a different game based on the previous game however, and not just a retheme.

Right there with you, and even sadder, the original game was a one time Kickstarter, no retail copies.
Yeah the theme is not inherently appealing to me. I'm sure it will be charming in it's own way, but it doesn't grab me initially.

Wow that is super fun! It immediately makes me want to check out the game.
