I'm a big fan of dexterity games, so this looks super neat. I think my kids would love it as well. i mean, what kid doesn't like building towers? haha

what are some of your favorites?

Flip Ships is my favorite of the genre. So much fun. Crokinole is always going to be up there, especially since I grew up with it.

Disc Duelers is a fun combat game with powers, and Zoo Ball is a fun sport-type game. I got to play Dino Dunk at Origins and that’s a flocking basketball game with dinosaurs. Loads of fun.

Coconuts is good, Click Clack Lumberjack is good...Lots of good ones!

Man Trent you are really cranking these videos out! I can’t keep up!

Haha, what do you think of them? Is it too many too quick? Are they good quality?

Personally I love that you are addressing specific things abut the game, rather than reviewing them just like every other content maker. Specifically, in your Wingspan video I like that the point of the video is not a review, but identifying what 1 part of the game is different.

They are great quality and I enjoy the length but I would try to focus on one thing with the time you have - example in your Wingspan video you do a great job talking about your central question but then you start a minor rules explanation before finishing with a bit of a review. I would just focus on answering your question. Also I would nix the rules explanation and just give the review of the game

For example in this video (I haven’t watched it yet) I would expect a short discussion about the previous great dexterity games and then this new game and what helps it to fit in with that crowd and also what makes it stand out.

That’s not to say that I don’t enjoy your review sections, because I certainly do. Here are my suggestions for your reviews: Write out a script or at least use bullet points before you film the review to make sure you have a cohesive and tight review. One thing that many reviewers have gotten away from is a scoring system. I don’t like scoring games out of 10 or a percentage but perhaps you could do something like “Avoid, Consider, Recommend, or Exemplary along with a Pro, Con, and You Might like this game of...” section.

I don t think any reviewer has an "Avoid" category do they? :) That sounds to harsh, maybe not recommended =)
Or that game has to be really really bad.
Personally I don t miss the seal/judgement in the end of the videos. I mean a "Recommended by BGA" seal would look great on board game boxes in the future. But I d prefer Game of the year awards. I don t know which one is the bigger cliche though :D

Trent s videos for me feel more like introductions for the games, not like a strict review. He shares some thoughts and feelings about the game, the background of the game and some basic gameplay.
Based on his content I feel like I can decide if I wanna give the game a shot or not, but maybe some poeple need some more guidence or assurance to spend their hard earned cash.
Maybe they can make a poll to see if the audience recommends these seals or scoring.

If he does this without a script/bulletpoints that is pretty good :D
I like the littel studio look, the camera angles and the sound quality.

I typically have between 4-6 points I want to cover written down but don't write out a full script. I'd also rather go for a Game Awards style icon for designers/publishers rather than a seal of approval or something like that.

I'm certainly still working on how to deliver the best information in the style that I would want to watch myself but I've been happy with it compared to my last attempt at making videos, haha.

I agree that he does a good job. His set up and the quality are awesome. I think he should just try to decide what the purpose of the video is. Is Trent trying to make a short little discussion about the game and the question in the title? An introductory video? A review? For these quick hit videos I think he should stick to just one thing. That’s what I was trying to communicate.

I'm always down for a new dexterity game. In my collection I think I'll only have "room" for 1 or maybe 2. I'm going to have to consider this one though.

I was expecting you to build the tower untill it falls, or at least some more levels :D

Owner14 months ago

Hahaha I would've love to have seen that xD

I've been after great family games so this one definitely has my interest!

There's even a cooperative mode now that players are starting to enjoy more now.
