Anyone have any recommendations for gateway-ish games that would be good for ESL (English as Second Language) people? I guess the important thing is not too many words to read. In our collection we have #Kingdomino, #Azul, #Century: Golem Edition, and #Tiny Towns. We also intend to buy #Point Salad within the coming weeks. Any other ideas? Maybe #Sagrada?

I believe #Ticket To Ride would work. For the tickets you are just matching cities with those on the map and they give a visual depiction of where the cities are on the map.
Oh, I didn't even think about TTR. Of course! I have some decisions to make, haha.

#Sagrada is a hard 'yes'. Aside from the tool cards, very little text in the game. If you have at least 5 people, I'd recommend #Bang. Also, my absolute favorite gateway game is #Century which has no text at all and only 1 page of instructions.
Thanks for the advice on Sagrada - will keep an eye out for a deal. And we actually have Century, and I agree that it's fantastic and an awesome gateway game!
Oh whoops, I didn't read your original post carefully enough. Another game worth looking at if you like Century is Splendor.

#Azul or any of its sequels...
#Lanterns: The Harvest Festival
Those are all games we enjoy that are in the gateway ish catagory and I believe all of them are language independent...some have numbers...
I'll take a look at those. Thanks!

If you are looking for something a little mid-heavy I recommend trying out Viscounts of the West Kingdom on Tabletopia. Anyone who enjoyed #Architects of the West Kingdom or #Paladins of the West Kingdom would like #Viscounts of the West Kingdom.

I'll second this. I think it might be my favourite of the series. This weekend we are actually doing a "Tour of the West Kingdom" game day where we are going to play all 3 in a row!
I am looking forward to doing this one day after the Tomesaga cards arrive. I think that will be a blast!
That is the kickstarter cards that connect them all together? We don't actually have those yet but we figure this is a good warmup. :)
Yessir! That's the kickstarter. I still think I like Paladins the best of all of them but I do like the whole series :)
I think they are all good but Viscounts might be my favourite based on the one play I've had. We'll see after this weekend.
This sounds awesome! I love playing games that are linked in some way back to back, haha. A few months ago we played #Evolution: Climate and #Oceans back to back, and that was fun. I'd like to do that again!
How long do you think this would take you?
We have limited it purposefully to the faster players and most of us have played most of the games but I figure it'll be 5 hours maybe? Hard to be sure.
Not too bad!

I need a recommendation for your favorite racing games! I have 0 in my collection now and would like to fill it with a couple really good ones.
It's actually more of a betting game but I really like #Downforce. You have some control over all the cars and can be strategic with blocking and when to make big moves. My favorite racing game is #The Quest for El Dorado. It a race to be the first to get your explorer to El Dorado across various terrain via deck building.
Nice! The Quest for El Dorado is pretty high on m y wish list because we're also deckbuilding fans. Downforce is up there too
Formula D is a classic and a lot of fun, especially with a big group but Flamme Rouge is probably my favourite.
I heard Flamme Rouge recommended often. Its going to go on my list!
Steampunk Rally is fairly fun and has an expansion I believe. Racing games have never taken off in our family but it could be I just haven't found one that fits quite right.
I've been eyeing Steampunk Rally so good to hear
Haven't taken off? No pun intended? haha

#Costa Rica the set up is a little pain in the butt , but after that its a good game that you can play laid back or cut throat
We talk about board games here. Games like Codenames, Catan, Root, and all your favorites. Posts can link directly to games and everyone is welcome to join the discussion.
