Top Five Board Game Snacks

Supporter

What snacks do you like to offer for your game night? A good snack needs to be clean and tasty. Here are five that I've found work fairly well.

5. M&Ms candy - delivers a delicious snack that isn't too messy. Addicting but good.

4. Cheese sticks - delicious protein packed snack good for those marathon play sessions.

3. Grapes/Pre-sliced apples - not too messy, healthy, bite sized.

2. Pretzels  - filling. Addictive. Not messy at all. Salty. Crunchy.

1. Licorice - Red licorice only. A perfect game night snack. Lasts a while. Chewy. Sweet. Not messy. Delicious.

What are your snacks?

In my group we tend to do grapes, boom chicka pop (more or less basic popcorn with a bit of salt on it), and if we are having a long game day pizza.

We tend to eat the pizza at a different table.  I'm pretty relaxed with my games and have had no issues yet but we do take chances sometimes with the different foods and drinks at the table.

I've mistaken M&M's for game components before. You know those clear stone/gem markers from #Sagrada? Well, if there are white M & M's on the table (from Valentine's Day), make sure you're paying attention to what you're idly putting in your mouth. hahaha

Gasp! Can't run the risk of getting oils, chocolate, crumbs, sauce, etc all over the game cards or pieces. Highly suggest to eat separately from gaming, but if one must munch, maybe something that is relatively "clean" and a one-biter like grapes.

Obviously better to do no snacks but we live in a real world where people need to eat

True, but one can eat before/after playing instead of during. 🤣

Sorry this comment sounded mean and I didn't intend for it to be rude. I was attempting to say that if you have to eat snacks these are the ones I would go with.

Haha no worries.  Sometimes snacking while gaming can't be avoided. Just a shame experiencing games that get soaked in liquids because someone gets a bit overly animated...

We usually do some kind of crunchy snack but sometimes we also eat something before (grilled sausage or something).

This is my preferred strategy. Feed people before and after, so the desire to snack during the game is minimal.

Exactly...that's what I was trying to say from my other post 😂

This is great idea for a list!

I really like sliced pepper or carrot, sometimes with hummus as a nice light snack, doesn't sit heavy or become sickly.

Carrots are good but not my favorite

That's okay, the carrots will forgive you

Haha, and then your turn comes round a little quicker than expected and you have to chew real fast!

Stress eating when a game gets intense!

The only problem with this list is the licorice. I would agree with you on its desirability based on it's physical characteristics. But, a good snack also has to taste good. On this front the licorice fails miserably.

See that over there? That's the door. Feel free to use
