What is one IP you would like to see in a board game?

After binging these two series on Netflix, I'd personally like to see Avatar: the Last Airbender or The Umbrella Academy made into a board game. Seeing as how there's different types of powers in each series, an assymetrical game might work. I just don't really want to see another Legendary Encounters game as that seems to be the easiest implementation for Avatar. I'd still probably buy it lol, but I'd like to see something else come out of that license.

I (Mrs. Saint) really like this question because it forced me to actually search for some of my favorite IPs to see what is out there. We're big anime fans in this house and I know there have been some of the anime's we love turned into games but I'd still like to see more of/more current games of: My Hero Academia, Fairy Tail, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood,Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma, Fire Force, and well I'll stop there lol.

We're not so secretly hoping Level 99 Games announces the fifth season of Exceed and it's My Hero Academia.

Seems like we probably have a number of crossovers in preference :)

If you haven't checked it out yet, I think you might really like Demon Slayer.

Haha, if you noticed, I stopped my list. We love Demon Slayer. In fact, I loved it so much that when we got to the end of S1, I couldn't handle the suspense so my husband bought me the manga that covers the next arc for Valentine's Day. I really think Demon Slayer would be a solid board game. I'm thinking like a cross of Mansions of Madness, where you spend part of the game investigating (figuring how who is the demon or how to stop them) and a campaign game like Descent where you're working to a larger goal but each stop on the journey is a unique story with the option for side quests. It would also be cool if it added in the ability to switch characters in and out.

Right now, we're enjoying some of the webcomics turned anime. We loved Tower of God. And we're also watching The God of High School.

Ok, we're matches. My wife absolutely loved watching it too, and there was that one episode where he fought that spider demon in the mountains that was masterfully executed!! The manga ended a few months ago.

I'm up to date on Tower of God and The God of High School on webtoon as well, and I enjoyed introducing ToG anime to my wife. I feel like you'd know about Solo Leveling as well.....

I have not heard of that one yet! We will have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.

I think you'll love it. When the anime adaptation was announced for several webtoons, everyone was excited about the potential for Solo Leveling to be realized in the near future too.

I've seen Exceed being talked about lately, gotta check out the gameplay now! I'd love MHA, FT, or FMA:B to have a board game with great mechanics that tie into the universe. I honestly don't want another deckbuilder out of them, because that's the trend and it's easy. I wouldn't be opposed to having miniatures of those, but I'd sacrifice those to have good gameplay.

You can also play Exceed online. I think TTS has a verision that a lot of people use. Exceed for us has become a weeknight/short-on-time staple of our game play. We have most of Season 2-4 at this point, just missing some of the solo fighters. My husband did a review of it -I'm a little behind in posting our reviews from our site to BGA but if you want to read it, it's here: https://gamingwiththesaints.com/2020/07/18/exceed-fighting-system/

And I completely agree about changing it up from deckbuilders. I wouldn't mind seeing some of these turned into maybe an Adventure Book style like Comanauts or possibly a dungeon-crawler/campaign style or even an LCG. I feel between the manga/anime there is already so much source material it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to make it happen.

I'd love to see a game based on The Dragon Prince (first three seasons are on Netflix and, if you like AtLA, you'll probably like this one as well).

Also an open-world Legend of Zelda game.

They announced an RPG, Tales of Xadia.

. . . not without buying the Tales of Xadia core rulebook, on sale soon!

"In the Tales of Xadia game, players will take on the role of characters they create to bring their own epic quests to life with friends. The experience will consist of the core roleplaying game, a digital companion and toolset, a community content creation and sharing platform, and an organized play program that will give fans the opportunity to participate in a connected, living story with other players around the world that will directly tie in with the action of the show."

That sounds awesome! I'm so glad they're doing this.

WHAAAAAT? That's so cool!

We love The Dragon Prince. I really hope we get a Season 4.

Rumor has it that Netflix has signed an agreement to finish through season 7. And from what I can tell, the rumors are true. :)

I haven't seen this show (but now I'm keen to check it out), but hopefully Netflix stops it's practice of cancelling good shows in it's 3rd season. I'm salty about Santa Clarita Diet and the marvel shows.. I also heard Sabrina was cancelled but I haven't seen it. Animation is probably easier to continue, but damn it Netflix! give the people what they want!

Yeah, I agree. We've been on the fence about our Netflix subscription but are excited to see S2 of Umbrella Academy this weekend and love some of the other originals and shows they picked up from other networks. I am way behind on The Last Kingdom (like two seasons) which now that I think about it is a non-anime IP I'd love to see as a board game.

And I really hope we get 7 seasons. There are so many shows like mentioned that they just drop and you never hear from again, it's sad.

Legend of Korra will be on Netflix soon!

My go-to answer for this topic is Final Fantasy 7 or 9 and Avatar: The Last Airbender

Stargate SG1 needs to be a dungeon crawl

The Warriors needs to be an area control game

I've seen a bit of SG1, but my wife and I are currently watching Stargate Atlantis. We love it.

Stargate is my stock answer as well.

That's awesome, but it seems like yet another card game. I have yet to read the comics, I'll take a look at that kickstarter after I binge season 2 this weekend, I'm loving the show so far.

I would love to see a game based on the Dungeons and Dragons Cartoon.  It was a favortive of mine as a kid but also it captures the essence of DnD in a fun and campy kind of way that many games do not.  I could see this as a campaign/legacy game where you could play the characters from the show with the goal being to get back home.  I think it could work.

I know we have enough fantasy games, but I really enjoyed this book, and it's sequel. Would like a game or RPG set in that world.

Looks like I got a new book on my reading list. I love reading that subtitle to that song "The boys are back in town!" Makes it sound like this is just a medieval romp with the boys lol

'Wildwood' trilogy by Colin Meloy would be good.  So many interactions between human and non-human characters. Neil Gaiman's 'The Graveyard Book' would be interesteing.  And anything written by Brandon Sanderson!

I love old cartoons from the 80's. I was sad when Wizards cancelled Transformers TCG. My son and I were big fans of the game. I loved the mechanic of flipping the cards to transform from bot mode to alt mode. I would love to see a game with He-man, GI Joe, or Voltron. I've heard CMON might be making a He-man game 🤞
