My choice of prize.

Supporter

I had my prize package all picked out..... I wanted #Everdell and maybe another game... Then I started looking at the games on my wishlist. While looking I noticed that #Brass: Birmingham was available for $50. I have really wanted this game since it came out, but don't really have the group for it. So, I started thinking about other games that I wanted but didn't really think I had a chance to get.

Add to this that I really wasn't big on BGA shipping the game here, unless they had too. It is usually so expensive. And, my next trip to the states is scheduled for the last week of March and the first week in April, So, I probably wouldn't be getting my game before then anyway......

Add to this that @JamesReid860 told me to check out Boardgameprices.com when I told him that I was really wanting #Root. He told me that he had seen several prices on there for the $50ish range. I went and looked, and they were all out of stock, but, there were several accepting preorders.... expected late feb to march sometime......

Add to this that I had just re-listened to this episode, http://solosaurus.libsyn.com/episode-24-root.

When you add all these together, you can discover that I have a copy of #Root preordered for my prize. I plan on playing that with the better bot project. Probably mostly solo for now,,,,, but who knows what the future will hold.

Again, thanks to @trentellingsen and @philryuh for making this possible.

Also, just to make it clear. They are willing to ship it to El Salvador, I just don't want them to need to spend the 35-85 dollars that packages can, and often do, take.

I can’t even comment on that other chain. It’s gotten so far out of hand.

I am honored to have my thread blow up like that.

Great! Glad I got to be a part of the story!

Congratulations!  Jealous of your warm weather in El Salvador.  I am in the snowy northeastern United States.  Glad you settled on a game.

That is great! I am happy that Phil and Trent were able to be flexible with you. Exciting!

Also Chris we need a winners photo of you holding up a pre-order receipt or something.

Next to a Christmas tree.

Supporter10 months ago

Don't have a Christmas tree.

I'll tell ya'll what I'll do.

I'll print out the better bot stuff and pose outside, where you can maybe see some palms or something.  Is that sufficient?

I'll try and get this done in the next week or so if this is good enough for you.

haha I could use some palms right now :)

Just stepped out and snapped this from my front door.

Wow. That is gorgeous! You live in a beautiful part of the world. Makes me miss being in a tropical climate (despite the humidity).

We really are lucky. El Salvador is the driest country in Central America. We are dry from October to May. And, in rainy season, it almost never rains before noon, usually not before 3 or 4.

I didn't know that about El Salvador! I just assumed most countries down there are insanely humid. I've never been further south than Louisiana (in the Western hemisphere, at least), so I kind of assumed it was all really wet. When I lived in the Philippines, if it wasn't raining, it was still very humid haha

It is humid in most of Central America. But, the pacific coast is always significantly drier, and El Salvador has only pacific coast.

That makes sense.

I love my dry weather and 300 days of sunshine here in Colorado that's for sure.  Plus it helps my games stay in decent condition when they are exiled to our storage building because I don't have room for all my games in the house.

Yeah, I didn't mind the dryness when I lived in Utah. The winters were short and warm (to this Canadian, at least). Never had to worry about the games, either. Now, in Kentucky, our house has dehumidifiers running to keep up with the humidity haha

You have one dedicated solely to your games don't you.  Haha.

Haha! Awesome.  How did you post the GIF?  Just copy and paste?

I just dragged it from my computer to the message box. You can also upload it the same way you do an image.

This could get out of hand, because I love using GIFS to talk text people and comment on stuff.

Haha Me too. Obviously :)
