Gloomhaven, Wingspan, Trismegistus.  We are I think a half quest away from getting to open up envelope 'x' in Gloomhaven.  Looking forward to that and when I retire my character I'll get to start the forgotten circles character!

Do you play Gloomhaven solo or group?

I have a friend I play with and we've almost finished the main game.  I also host a 5 player campaign (we are only about 6 scenarios in)

A few games this week!

  • #Terraforming Mars with all expansions.  I played this one solo as I picked up Turmoil last week and wanted to try it out.  There is a LOT going on when you add in all of the expansions.  I know it was only one solo game but #Terraforming Mars: Venus Next really seems like the odd one out.  With everyone else going on it really doesn't seem like something anyone would have time for.  Fun as something to explore but not part of the game.  Turmoil though seems good and adds a bit more power to resources that maybe were a bit weaker. (Steel for example vs titanium).  I think it will be fun with other players.
  • #Munchkin Deluxe:  Played it with my family.  I know people don't seem to like this game but when you have a few people playing it and not taking it too seriously it's a bit of fun and we played two games quite quickly.
  • #Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated: Started our campaign with 2 games.  Man, this is a ton of fun!  I love Clank to start with and this just adds that legacy goodness to put it over the top.  Can't wait for our next session!
  • #Spirit Island: I really enjoy this one but don't get it to the table enough.  We won vs level 1 Brandenburg.  We'll have to bump it up a notch for the next one!
  • #Race for the Galaxy: I've had it for a bit but hadn't got it to the table.  It's a classic and I can see why!  Got two games in.  It's a cool engine builder and the cards really make you feel (in a light sense) like you are building up an empire with its own nuances.  Fun game!

After playing Venus Next a while back, we decided it really doesn't add a whole lot. A fun idea, but not very useful as far as gameplay.

I desperately want to play Clank! Legacy. Love Clank! and I love legacy games. Seems like an obvious choice to me haha

Yeah. I don’t regret Getting Venus as I could see it being good to change up with the other modules but it won’t be my go to setup.

Clank Legacy is super enjoyable so far so grab it if you can and have some dedicated players to play it with.

I desperately want to get Clank! Legacy. However, I've had Charterstone sitting on the shelf for a few years now because I don't have a dedicated group to play it with (and I hear it's best at full player count). And my game group has already played through it and they're not so interested in doing it again at the moment. So, I'm stuck until I find more friends haha Still, I want to get Clank! Legacy anyway. Actually, my game group might like that one...Hmmmmmmmmmm...

It's good!  I've only played two games but I think having a dedicated group to play through it all is going to be the best experience for sure.

Been playing lots of Gloomhaven and my game group actually got together on Saturday night. We played #Nemesis and it was quite fun!

I need to sit down and do one of my famous (+/-) reviews for it soon.

By the way, I for the first time this week saw the box for Gloomhaven.  Yeesh.  I'd have to buy a storage building just to house it.  Haha.

Looking forward to your thoughts on Nemesis!

We were able to get a couple of games of #Quantum. We did a 2 player and a 3 player. It is an interesting experience. The two player was quite peaceful, but the three player was lots and lots of combat. I was on the losing end of it.

The game is fast and tactical. I'll need to play it a few more times to get the hang of it, but I am intrigued.

I got Terraforming Mars for Christmas and it’s become our current favorite. We just picked up the Prelude expansion and played 3 rounds last week.

Other than that we played 2 scenarios of the AH-LCG (The circle undone campaign) and a few rounds of Raptor.

Late to the game, I'm just starting #Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Eight Minute Empires: Legends with the Lost Lands expansion. I'm not sure Lost Lands really makes sense in a 2pl game but I do like the new cards and leaders.

Got killed at Glyph Chess earlier in the week.

Played a few games of Number 9 & a solo game of Paladins of the West Kingdom.

I've just recently gotten into board game so my collection is small but I have a weekly game night with the family. We played #Rise of Tribes

Just got a 7 player game of #Welcome to... in on Saturday night! It was super fun, one of our friends actually bought it on Amazon right after we finished lol.

I actually have a game of #Root planned for this Friday night! Yay!

It's so sad, I have to check my BG Stats app to see what I've played over the last week.

SOLO GAMING
Pandemic: The Cure - Lost. VERY badly.
One Deck Dungeon - Campaign, played the Archer. Played twice, lost twice.

PEOPLE GAMING
Power Grid - played the Power Grid: Middle East / South Africa Expansion - Recharged Version, 4 players, won a 4-way tie
Point Salad - lost
Brikks - first time playing, lost
Cosmic Encounter - one of my absolute favorite games, shared the victory with my buddy Jason

I've also played a few games on the apps I have, but I usually don't count those.

Cosmic Encounter has always been on my radar.  What do you like best about it?

With the right group, it's phenomenal. There are so many ways to circumvent the normal rules that it sometimes can feel like a free-for-all, but in a somewhat controlled manner. You can negotiate, make deals, and slither your way out of them if you like, but it's so fun that it's not like the enemy-from-friends-engine of a game like Diplomacy. And in the base game alone, there are so many different alien powers that can be used that you could play the game every day for 10 years and never play the same game twice.

I know a guy who runs a group that plays Cosmic Encounter every single week, all expansions included, and they are systematically working through all the available alien powers. They have a blast every time they play.

This sounds like it would hit a lot of check marks for me.  I'll have to keep it on my radar.  Thanks for sharing.

No physical game play, but I did get to try out Root on TTS.  While I think we can all agree that playing a game on tabletop is ideal I'm excited to play some online board games with the people in this community.  It'll be a great way to connect.

Premium User12 months ago

Only a few games are actually officially supported on TTS, right? Most games are community developed, I think. Is that right? Which camp is Root in?

Supporter12 months ago

Root is community developed.  But it is great, I'm very impressed.  Also, that means it's free!

Nice!

One game of #Tiny Epic Tactics - Featuring a 3D Environment -- this time with multiple players!

It was a three-player game, and after playing it this way, it jumped way up on my list. Very fun, very enjoyable. I'm planning on making a post on it to discuss the game when I have a bit of time.
