What game are you planning to play next? (I'm hoping to get through my shelf of shame)

I'm planning to bring out Dice Throne soon and get it to the table. I've seen it sitting on my shelf for a few months and never wanted to bring it out.

I'm hoping to get it to the table by next week!

Also, I have 3 shelves in my game room. My giant shell is the A-list games, then I have the B-list games. Then inside my closet we have what I call the Reject Closet. Games we rarely get to the closet. (Which is why I created the sale list). Some of the games on there I like just no one wants to play lol.

We'll be playing Terraforming Mars with Terraforming Mars: Prelude and Terraforming Mars: Colonies on Thursday.  First time with both for the group but I've played them solo a couple of times and I think they will enjoy it.

I'm not trying to start anything, but does the component quality of TM ever both you?

R0land1199 Supporter16 months ago | 3 points[-]

It doesn't bother me at all but I'm pretty relaxed about that type of thing.  I like quality components but components that are fine don't detract from things for me that much as long as they are usable.  If the overall game is great I can put up with a lot component wise.  (And I think Terraforming Mars is great personally.)

Speaking of usable, I did improve the player mats as after several plays we finally had a "bumping incident".

I bought some magnetic sticky pads and little magnetic disks.  Slapped the pads on the back of the player boards and use the disks instead of cubes for tracking the production amounts.

Works great and all for less than $15 CDN to do all the player sheets.

Mind you, it makes the box pretty heavy and I didn't do any nice refinements I could have done to make it look cleaner but it works for me.

The bumping incident is something I think about a lot with TM. I've never played it, but looking at all the stuff it just feels like it's screaming for a deluxe edition.

Good on ya for coming up with a solution that works for you.

For $20 you can get decent player mats on etsy. It bothered me a little bit however I just used poker chips as replacement bits until we got those. I think the quality is good but the sizing is bad. It can get annoying trying to pick up the copper cubes lol.

I got to play Tales of the Northlands: The Sagas of Noggin the Nog this past weekend which was fun for me but not for the other person who played. I don't know what I am planning to play next. But I am hoping to get Secret Unknown Stuff: Escape From Dulce back to the table soon.

After my biggest gaming weekend is months (3 games of Raiders of the North Sea, 2 games of Scythe and 1 game of Viticulture: Essential Edition) I'm looking to take a break for a bit. That said, I want to get Viticulture back to the table as when we played it for our first time we were tired and two of the three people kind of resigned at one point. We'll try it again when we're more rested. I'd also like to add the Raiders of the North Sea: Fields of Fame Expansion to our Raiders as we've not played with it yet. Playing Raiders with two people feels great with Raiders of the North Sea: Hall of Heroes Expansion and I'm guessing it will just be a little more crunchy with Fields of Fame.

If youre a fan of raiders. I recommend Explorers and Shipwrights after that get the Runesaga and you can play all 3 of them in a row with different win conditions and a win in a previous game gets you a bonus for the next game.

both the raiders expansions are really cool. It doesnt clog up the table that much more. If that is what you meant by crunchy.

Oh trust me, they're on the list. :-) Along with Architects and eventually Paladins.

FirstJohn318 16 months ago | 1 point[-]

Architects is FUN!!! I love any game that is related to magic lol.

Skyw3rd 16 months ago | 1 point[-]

Architects has magic in it? I've never seen anything like that in anything I've watched.

Paladins does? I can't say I've seen any magic in that one either. I'm sure we're confused about something.

The broad concept is that of a "Holy Warrior", combining aspects of both Warrior and Cleric.

Typically, new games hit the table immediately. But it's been weird this year.  I have 1 game & 1 expansion I haven't played. Wasteland Express Delivery Service Board Game & Arkham Horror: The Card Game - The Dunwich Legacy Box Expansion.

I'm hoping to get Wasteland to the table this weekend & solo Dunwhich legacy S1 or 2 next week.

Forbidden Island is on the table next as it didn't make it this last weekend.

I'm currently working out a trade for Lisboa, and really hoping it's the next game to hit my table. It'll be my first Lacerda title as well. Really looking forward to it; It's been on the top of my want list for months!
