Specific Cards You Love To See?

Supporter

In response to I was thinking, it would be nice to think about the cards you love to see in a game.  Those cards that make your personal strategy or game great.  I'll post one of my favorites in the comments.

Until I read your comment, I had thought it was on my post xD

I could see this going either way. Depends on if you play it or it's played against you. Worse yet if it's played against you after you played it first! Yikes...

One thing's for sure, I love seeing red grape cards in #Viticulture: Essential Edition :) (there was a streak of games when I first got the game that I just could not draw any of them)

Besides that though, I generally love that moment in deck-builders when I draw a "draw more" type of card. Especially satisfying to get the "Giant Machete" card at the right moment so that I can blaze through the jungle in #The Quest for El Dorado

Tough question. I think I'd have to go a corporation in #Terraforming Mars Tharsis Republic. It helps make my strategy that much easier.

Nice.  I've only played #Terraforming Mars one time.  I liked the concept but for some reason didn't resonate with me enough to want to play it again.

That's too bad, it's among my favorites. My one complaint would be the player boards are absolute trash. I have since upgraded them through the BGG store but wasn't too happy about it lol

Yeah, it could be that I just need to play again with more than one other player.  But I also don't find it to be the most physically appealing either.

I've only played at 2 and I have long thought I wouldn't like it at higher player counts. I'd feel in too much of a rush from the race element of getting cards played when they rely on certain conditions on Mars. It would probably speed the game along considerably though..

Gotya.  Yeah, for me I almost never play a game at 2P so I tend to favor games being played at their top player counts.  However, I haven't played this enough to have any idea.  I do like the theme and am intrigued by it overall.  I wonder if I would enjoy the Digital version of the game.

Have you played the digital version?  What do you think?

Also, I have heard that the Expansions add greatly to the game.

Makes sense. I haven't played any official digital adaptions just a TTS mod. It definitely took a lot less time to play at least when it came to set up lol. I could only imagine a digital version would be better than TTS because it would likely do all the upkeep steps for you.

As for expansions, I have#Terraforming Mars: Prelude and I would never play again without it. It greatly speeds up the game which is really important considering it has taken us pre expansion 3+ hours to play at 2p before. I'd like to get some more expansions but I absolutely refuse to spend more money on that game.

The Ever Tree in #Everdell. It's worth 5 points on its own. It gives you bonus point based on your city. But the best part (that's not immediately obvious): you can put any critter into it. In case you haven't played Everdell, that means that it allows you to play any critter card for free.

The first thing I thought of was the "chapel" card in base set #Dominion: Second Edition. It is a cheap card, costs two gold, and is one of the most powerful cards I have seen in Dominion. It allows you to trash up to four cards from your hand. This is extremely powerful, you can really prune your deck and get it lean and mean in a hurry with that.

Oh man, I did a couple video on something like this.  For Scythe I picked a few of my favorites https://youtu.be/kC3QVHC8apU but in a nutshell I love the cards that mess with the gameboard.

I think in #Paladins of the West Kingdom I can't help but go after the Villager that gives an extra worker each time I take the develop action.  I try to develop a lot each game and that is a huge boost.

#Magic: The Gathering where some of my favorite cards are played.  Craterhoof Behemoth is one of my favorites in a Return from the Grave styled deck and it is generally a one turn kill for 25+damage.

Another card in my Living Death deck doubles the trigger if a dying creature triggers an effect. In this particular deck a plenthora of creatures that have "when this or another creature dies target opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life".  I like to get 3-4 of these out and Wrath of God everything.

Fae of Wishes is an "adventure" mechanic card that allows the player to pull a card into the game from outside the game.  I love this wicked surprise for opponents.

Not sure if this count completely, but in #Gloomhaven I love the Crageheart's Unstable Upheaval card.  For a multitude of reasons.  The 13 initiative is fantastic to use the card for a basic action and just go far earlier than Craggy gets to go generally.  That BEST move though...is to start a turn with earth element available and bust into a crowded room, position myself within two hexes of about 5-6 different enemies, use the top ability of UU and a Warhammer and mass stun all enemies + 3 base damage.  If I happen to have a +2 power potion and goggles it just makes for the best move of move any day.

I can't remember the name of the card right now, but in #Viticulture: Visit from the Rhine Valley there is a visitor card that allows you to plant vines beyond your field capacity.  This makes your harvesting engine so strong when you are able to play it well.  I'm always so jealous when someone else gets it.
