I'm an expansion junkie already but I'm curious, what are the expansions you think that are must haves? My first one is in the comments.

Terraforming Mars ad Prelude is very necessary, makes the game get going super fast and speeds up play to make it a 2 hour game.

I have TM but no expansions. I’ll definitely check out Prelude as that does sound like it’ll make the game easier to get to the table.
Oh definitely. It slows the start of the game down by a couple minutes because you select your prelude cards then, but it is worth it for sure.

It really does a lot! My group had half of the global parameters halfway done in like 45 minutes because of this! Oceans were done in like 25.

HOW COULD I FORGET PRELUDE!? Such a good expansion. Doesn't add much in terms of content, but it's a great way to boost the game. I always play with Prelude.
I think this is what I look for in an expansion. It does not change the game, just enhances it or tweaks it slightly for a new variant or an improvement.

I've heard this too for TM. Makes sense.

Carcassonne: Expansion 2 – Traders & Builders. This adds more tile variety, incentives to finish each other's buildings, tile bag, and pigs for your farm. The second expansion, Inns & Cathedrals, is good also.
I love carcassone but only have the Princess and Dragon expansion, for some reason the people I play with just LOVE it when they can make the dragon eat someone...
Top 3 not mentioned for me:
Roll Player: Monsters & Minions is a must have imo. After playing twice without it and then never without it again, it just makes the game that much better. Your decisions feel more meaningful. And the end game high rolls are fun.
Blood Rage: Mystics of Midgard Expansion is another that I added and never want to remove. It adds a little more
Downforce: Danger Circuit Expansion is a must have in my opinion. More tracks is better. Why wouldn't I want the variation?
Downforce: Danger Circuit Expansion is a must for me. I feel that the base game had too much of an advantage for player 1, and both these maps fix that.
Roll Player: Monsters & Minions is also a great addition.
I feel like the base rules for Downforce are good but do have some issues. We always play with horse betting rules. It has changed the game completely.
I've considered changing some rules about when you can use your 8 card (when you're in the lead) & drafting your hand prior to auction. But honestly, just changing the way betting works has been a breath of fresh air. People try to do all kinds of crazy things to earn money. Bet on last place more often, intentionally sandbag a car before betting so you bet on it in a lower standing, etc.
The last time we played, someone earned over 30M. The same car was in last place for bet line 1 & 2. Bet on it both times. And ended up placing 1st. It was nuts.
What are the horse betting rules? I’ve always had a problem with how formulaic the game gets later on so I am intriguied by this!
Each bet is based off of position.
Write down the position of the car you are betting on.
First bet line
If they place 1st: 3x position
If they place 2nd: 2x position
If they place 3rd: 1x position
Second bet line
If they place 1st: 2x position
If they place 2nd: 1x position
Third bet line
If they place 1st: 1x position
You can do some crazy bets like this. And safe bets normally do not pay off well. Which they shouldn't.

I don't have it yet but I've read that the "Power Up" expansion for King of Tokyo improves the game immensely. I'm looking forward to that because it's already a really fun game.

Dominion: Intrigue 2nd Edition and Tuscany: Essential Edition are the two that absolutely made incredible games even better. They're not back braking in their price and are easily worth it since I get so much play from Viticulture and Dominion already.
I'm interested in Tuscany:EE I have Viticulture EE and have played once with my wife and she really didn't like it. I'm wondering if some expansion content would help or not. It's on my wishlist regardless.
Valhalla for Champions of Midgard is practically essential. It makes your dead Vikings actually useful haha The other expansion, The Dark Mountains, is good as well and adds another warrior die and a 5th player, but unless you need that 5th player, it's not entirely necessary. I still love it though. :)
I'd also say Beyond the Black for Tiny Epic Galaxies. Galaxies is fantastic as-is, but the expansion really adds some juice to it, which thing I never thought possible.
Another TE expansion to get is The Dark War for Tiny Epic Defenders (2nd Edition). I don't think I'll ever play without the expansion again. So good.
I'm a big fan of the base game of Clank!, but I'm really loving The Mummy's Curse expansion. A little mummy movement and curses really hypes up the tension.
And, last but certainly not least, is The Traveler expansion for Altiplano. It doesn't add a ton to the game, but it provides a way to get rid of excess resources you no longer need in order to trade for more rare ones. Will always play with this expansion.
Great suggestions Ben, thanks!

Yes I would add this to my must haves. The Expansion really makes the game develop is new and great ways. I love playing the Lizards even though they are extremely challenging. I am very excited to get the Root: The Underworld Expansion. I'd say that Root: The Riverfolk Expansion is a must though for sure.
The most necessary expansion I’ve ever come across is the Rise of the Empire expansion for Star Wars Rebellion. The expansion completely fixes combat (which is the base games only weakness) and adds more cool units and characters to the already great game.
I've heard the same thing and more plastic ships is always necessary! This game is pretty high on my wishlist.
Especially if they are Star Wars ships.
How is Rebellion? How many does it play and what's the play time?
Rebellion is my favorite game of all time. The box says 2-4 players but it’s Empire vs. Rebels so it’s essentially 1 vs. 1. It’s a lengthy game - 3.5 hours is my average time - but it’s so much fun you barely notice. It’s an amazing game.
I've heard really good things and it looks like it would hit a lot of mechanism and itchs that I'd love to scratch. That time though. Again I wish I had a dedicated gaming space so I could set it up and play it over multiple gaming night sessions.
