Minor Suggestion

I love the way we can easliy link games in our posts just by typing the '#' character (like #Gloomhaven).  It's a fantastic feature that makes it easy to reference games.

I think one small improvement that could make all the posts a little cleaner to read might be to automatically remove the '#' after creating the link.  That way a message could contain links to games like Ticket To Ride and Carcassonne and would look a little more natural instead of having hash marks all over the place.

I enjoy the # and the @ - makes it easy to identify games people are mentioning. I vote leave it as is.

It for sure does look a whole lot better, I wonder if that could be an optional thing for when people write articles (like  was saying), like there would be a button before you publish: 'remove #' that would do that for you. That way a lot of comments would still have them, where aesthetics wouldn't matter and would help people learn but long form articles could be made without them?

I like this idea. We intentionally left the # for the reason that others have said essentially to make it easier for new users to know that it's a thing and that it makes it clear what you're going to (and that it has a hover action on desktop browsers). However, all of that isn't as important in an article and it would make it look nicer to just have the regular wordds in the articles. I do think it would be something I could do but working out the user experience might take some time and would be after I finish a couple other projects related to prices.

I'm split on this. Having the # is helpful in terms of making people quickly realize it's a thing around here, and make them try it out. And like mentioned, it makes it easy to distinguish from typical links.

At the same time, I do agree that it's cleaner without the #. When I write articles, I often tag game pages within my writing and take out the # portion so that it looks more formal. The hover over for the preview still works when I do that.

If you want to differentiate external links from internal ones you could always use a different color or an icon to indicate "this link leaves BGA".  Most of the links I see here reference games or expansions so I just assume they are BGA links, of couse, those all have the # symbol so it's obvious that way too.

It's not a huge deal, just for me personally, all the # symbols break up the flow of the posts.

Huh, agree to disagree on this one. I feel the same way that does

I see where you're coming from - it does look cleaner.

But I do like the hashmark telling you that you're going to the BGA entry. I like the @ for users, too - lets me know that's a person and not a regular link.

Do you like the # symbol stylistically? Or is it that you like being able to tell the difference between a BGA link and an external link?

I just like being able to tell the difference. Some other way of distinguishing them could work.

I like that as well, perhaps different colors could be a way to distinguish them?  Maybe with an optional icon for those who are colorblind?
