Our group likes Deep Sea Adventure although it rides the line of being a filler game since gameplay is about 30 minutes.

Other staples for us are:

Laurent 8 months ago | 2 points[-]

  • Century Road Golem Edition (replaced Splendor for us) 1-5 players
  • Welcome to your perfect home 1-100 players
  • Quantum 1-4 players
  • Sagrata or Azul 1-4 players

Are some of our go to games.

Honorable mentions if you are alone waiting for your friends to show up:

  • Deep Space D6
  • One Deck Dungeon

Both are excellent single player puzzle games.

Cockroach Poker, Love Letter, and Sushi Go come to top of mind.

Grizzled has been our groups filler usually.

I mean... I can go to YouTube and see a review, but you know... we're already here so... feel like describing it in a sentence or 2? -:)

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 2 points[-]

I have no problem with that. I just wasnt sure if that is what you were asking.

Essentialy you have 1-4 (or more if your group is doing bad) cards in your hand. each card depicts 1-6 different types of threats. one at a time you each play a card from your hand and if you ever have 3 of a kind threats on the board you lose the round and the cards get shuffled into the deck. At any time you can choose to withdraw from the current round and not play anymore cards but the downside is you will add more cards to your hand next round. Once everyone withdraws from the round regardless of how many cards were played it is considered a win and those cards are removed from the game. then you must ADD cards to the draw pile from the death pile equal to the number of cards combined amongst all players. You win if you get the deck depeleted you lose if you move enough cards from the death pile into the deck.

The main catch between this and most coop games is that you can not talk about your hand with the other players. So everyone is essentially playing their own game but you either win together or lose together.

Their are player powers and abilities that slightly help and you also lose the game if a single player gains 4 hard knocks. It can be a brutal game but fun...lol

Now talking about it is making me want to play lol

more than a sentence or two but I couldnt stop lol

bushaaya 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Hmmm... sounds very interesting. You made me wanna try it out too, even though I generally dislike coop games -:)

Thanks for the quick intro to the game!

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Thats why I like this coop game. Each player plays his or her own game but they still have to work together.

Sounds like a Legendary kind of thing

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Never got into Legendary.

bushaaya 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

I've seen the name here & there... what is that exactly?

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Are you asking what Grizzled is?

Clank is a pretty good filler. Its one of our go tos when we want to burn time

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

You consider clank a filler?? how long are your normal games lol.

walterbd 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

they can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

so you can finish clank in about 30 minutes??

walterbd 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

yes, but as i just said... usually 45 minute minimum

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

I usually consider a filler game to take like 10-20 minutes with setup and take down included. I just cant ever imagine Clank being a "filler" for me...lol

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

you must have some very fast players...lol

walterbd 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

yes we are all used to playing games like dominion so we know how to plan ahead in deck building games. turns are usually very quick. we can slow it down when other people join.

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

more power to you...I just think the set up alone is too much to consider it a filler but if it is for you that is awesome.

walterbd 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

setup goes very quickly if you know what you are doing. just some chips to put down and some cards to shuffle. especially when people work together.

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Yeah we know what we are doing but its still about 10-20 min just to set up for us.

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Maybe because I am so used to Clank! In Space. Setup could be a little more complicated.

bushaaya 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

This actually reminds me of my first few years in the hobby, only playing Talisman. Games ended up taking over 6 hours, until we came up with some "sudden death" house rules to make it better (4 hours)

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Or you could just play TI!!! lol

bushaaya 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Yeah, I was a bit confused by that too

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Hey...more power to them if their normal games are like 5 hours and you can get more than 1 in...lol

trentellingsen 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

I like SkullLove Letter, and I just Ice Cool which I think will be pretty fun to bring out every once in a while.

FirstJohn318 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

Another filler I have which is a weird one lol. Bad Beets!!!

fiddly_bits 8 months ago | 1 point[-]

The Great Dalmuti because you can add or subtract players easily.
