What are those phrases which would sound odd to the “uninitiated”?

Meeple

When I first introduced my gf to a boardgame with meeple, she just kept laughing and refused to believe that I didn't just make-up that word. I had to actually look it up and show her that "Meeple" is a real word.

That's too funny because something similar happened to me as well. I asked my wife what color Meeple she wanted she laughed and said what is a Meeple?

I remember seeing one game crowdsourcing a name for a dog meeple, I think they settled on Pupple in the end, but there were some hilarious suggestions. I like to imagine slowly there will be a whole new board game/meeple-centric language developed

lol it's like Pig Latin but everything ends in apple, epple, ipple, opple, upple, and sometimes ypple.

Supporter12 months ago

That’s true! When my wife first heard it she liked it and thought it was the cutest thing she’s heard haha!

This is a better way to say orthogonal I think.

"I just can't get my engine up and running"

"It's all about dice mitigation"

"So this is a deck builder with a twist"

"It's us verses the board"

"I just love Ameritrash"

I was at my FLGS playing an P&P CCG (cause I didn't want to pay the MSRP) based on my favorite IP, but my AP, kept me from spending my AP efficiently costing me VP.

Or all of them at once! ;)

Supporter12 months ago

Just out of curiosity, can you think of a game that uses all of these?

Supporter12 months ago

I can think of games that get 3 out of 4 but not all 4

Supporter12 months ago

That where I'm at.

Supporter12 months ago

Yeah Its hard to find all of those things in a game

Supporter12 months ago

Perhaps #Underwater Cities... but the drafting is stretching it quite a bit.

Supporter12 months ago

I thought about that one... I have to find a way to play it sometime
