I forget how a 2p game works with Root, are other factions viable to use besides the Marquise and the Eyrie?
That's awesome that she's having fun!!

I think you have to be careful with the faction picks. If the cats are there you are going to need to have the birds in my opinion. Otherwise it'd be nearly impossible to slow them down. They almost feel necessary because of their board presence. I think that's going to change with the new expansion. I think the Moles are going to be used as a possible replacement for the cats. I don't think the Otters would play well at less than 4. They could maybe work at 3. But they would be impossible to run on 2.
I think I'd only really play with 2P with my daughter so she can learn. Otherwise I'd say it has to be 3 - 4 to really shine.

Looks great! My oldest played Paladins with me this afternoon. It’s a lot of game to parse so I don’t blame her for leaving midway through.
Wow, that's impressive. I've heard that is a complex game.
We played solo mode together. So I guess it was co-op mode?
Nice, yeah we did Pandemic: Iberia together once. She liked it.
We adjusted the rules a bit. We didn't use crafting at all. I thought two different suits and abilities with a card was a bit much. I walked her through her first two turns to give her a feel of the game (I told her what to do), and I coached her through her last two turns to help her figure out how to get the final point and the win.
I did not draw well to run my programming with the Eyrie. I couldn't get many battles in during my 2nd leaders reign. I fell into turmoil twice losing 7 total points.
Next time we'll still leave out crafting but I think I'll try to not tell her as much to do except of reminding her what she can do on her turn.
This sounds great. I’m never one to home brew rules or anything but I’m glad you are able to do it!
I know you're not. I don't have many. This is more homegrown so I can ease her into the game.
Final Score 30-28
Dang that’s a close score!
